Cato - our little baby budgie

She's adorable, so little and sweet, but also TERRIFIED! i want her to be happy so bad. I feel so nervous.

We got a baby bird yesterday from the pet store. I watched all the birds for a long time before I chose baby Cato to take home. I chose her because she is so tiny, obviously a little baby, she's very pretty (blue-grey/white/pale yellow/black - she looks like a storm), but most of all she was behaving very kindly towards the other birds, picking stuff up and carrying it to the others, preening others, etc. She's a real sweety!

But yesterday and last night were especially rough for her. She was so freaked out she didn't move at all for a couple of hours once she got into her new cage. Just sat on the seed dish pooping into it every once and a while.

Then we found out she had trouble maneuvering around the cage as she is so little. So we had to make some adjustments and remove some stuff. Finally she ate a little.

Then it was time to go to bed. She's in my room for now (quarantined for safety for a month. I thought she had settled down nicely and I left the light on dimmed down low for her just in case; but when I got up to go to the bathroom I noticed that she was hanging from the top of the cage like a bat!!! Oh no! She was like that for hours and hours!! Poor baby Cato!

I tried to talk her into moving but she wouldn't so finally I scared her with my hand until she found a perch (this was 4am). She stayed on the perch for the remainder of the night. Oy! I feel so tired today and she must feel the same. I hope she takes a few nice naps today. Poor worn out baby.

I want her to be happy so bad, but it's going to take some time before she feels relaxed.
