Sterno is dead! One of the most unique characters I've ever known. A real urban fellow, came from NYC, had a yen for asian stuff (yes, there's a pun), was an excellent fan, spend his money on fun stuff, never unpacked all the way, loved with his whole heart and had that heart crushed a couple times. He always sent blenders for wedding presents. For a guy who drank Guinness and single malts and basic mixed drinks, he sure had a thing for blenders.

Someday, he hoped to get an all-metal one that he could use in his car. Every once in a while, I'd check out the blenders currently available from KitchenAid for a likely model. Never found one, though.

It's true - always blenders!!

I shopped for a blender or two with him for other people. He usually went for the cheapest available. I remember one time the blender he bought cost $7! Total K-Mart special. That's why I was shocked and flattered to the max when he sent us a KitchenAid model. It was as if he said, "You're worth it, you're top notch!" I found it very touching.
