I think it's funny that nearly everyone in the anime club hates me because I think we shouldn't repeat so much of the anime we show. I don't mean like jokingly hate me, I mean they seriously hate me

the way voting works in our club is basicly what you describe. Essentially everyone in attendance is a member (and because the officers are so resistant to treating it like an official campus function, anyone who shows up is automaticly a member). There are two rounds of voting. First, people can vote for anything they'd like to see, and vote for as many things as they'd like. the titles with the most votes go to the second round, and then everyone only gets one vote, the title with the most votes getting shown at the end.
What it is, is it's a problem with the members bringing the same things in semester after semester, and consistently voting to watch them. Seeing something we haven't before is probably down to about 60% of the time, and seeing anything remotely recent almost never happens.
I see no reason why this is an issue, what with the near-perfect voting process we have. Vandread got like 5 votes in the finals (and other old anime repeats didn't even make it to the finals). If something gets voted in, it needs support from at least 1/3 of the club, so nothing a large portion of people don't want to see will make it in.
Heck, I think the only reason Vandread gets that far into the voting now is because you and the 4-5 nerds on the opposing side have turned this into some sort of personal war and everyone is looking on in amusement, while you whine and the nerds fume from the mouth.
If everyone involved would stop bitching and let the voting do the talking, instead of making it a personal issue what one brings to anime club, things would be nice and easy-going. We are in the business of running a club to watch cartoons, I mean really. This is all for the sake of entertainment, and you guys are acting like personal pride is on the line or something. Relax!
You skipped about a year of club, so you might be a little behind. Sure, in the three meetings we've had so far this semester, we haven't made any repeats. But allowing our "near-perfect" voting process to remain the only deciding factor is not going to solve anything. This near perfect process has shown us Vandread three times, Onegai Teacher four times (two sets of episodes each time), Fruits Basket three or four times, Kare Kano three times, and so forth, all within the last four semesters. The problem really lies with the flow of membership opinion moving away from seeing fresh, different titles, and toward watching the same favorites over and over again. Hell, if you look at what's been up for voting in the last three meetings, we've seen Vandread within the last year, and we watched Outlaw Star twice last semester. It's a serious problem

I agree with you. I haven't been in the club even a month yet XD But I'm not gonna want to watch an anime that people want to see because it's popular and "in" right now.
Like, I wouldn't mind watching Zoids. I heard it hasn't been brought up. And while I love Trigun, if it's been watched 3 times previously, I'd be against watching it again. People need new and different things
*shakes pom-poms* I support you!
...And yeah I do have some ridiculous fashion choices. ;-; See?
Thing one! Awesome, good to know there's some support for this outside of my little group of hated long time members and the president. Everyone else is either violently opposed or entirely indifferent / a pussy
