Title: Be A Man About It
Author: happywriter06
Fandom: Friday Night Lights
Rating: G
Category: Gen
Characters: Brian ‘Smash’ Williams
Summary: Brian's thoughts on the news he's received about Waverly.
Disclaimer: I wish I owned.
Notes: The title is from Ch-Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes (episode 19). This takes place sometime during that episode. Mud Bowl makes it AU. *shrugs* Part of my BSW/WG Series called "Love begins with a smile, grows with a kiss, and ends with a teardrop." , which is ficlets about their relationship over the years.

He loves her. He really does. He’s never loved a girl before; never known a girl like her before.

He loves her but she scares him. He doesn’t what she’s capable of. He doesn’t know if he can handle whatever comes next.

She’s really like no one he’s ever known.

She didn’t tell him not to tell. Then again, she didn’t tell him he could either. It’s not like he knows who to tell anyway. The guys will probably be as clueless as he is, trying to understand exactly it means other than ‘She’s crazy.’ And he’d be damned if anyone says that about her even if he thinks it, says it aloud to himself sometimes. He doesn’t need Mama worrying or worse telling Pastor. Even though Pastor asked about Wavey’s behavior, he’s not going to tell. At least not until he has to. Pastor’ll probably send her away again and for all his wondering about what to do, Brian doesn’t want that. Nonnie’s too young and Sheila’s already keeping secrets.

He wishes she’d told him before she left that way he’d had some time to adjust. Wrap his head around it. Get a game plan.

He knows he could lose her - one way or another - and Lord knows how he hates to lose.
