The minute you see her, the tears start to fall but you bite your lip to hold them back. This isn’t the time to break down. To let the build up of raw emotion flow so that you wind up bent over a toilet bowl. Again. Although you know this time it wouldn’t be all sadness, pain, anger and regret. You’ll have some measure of peace for she is well and going to be fine, the doctors have said.

The second you touch her, her eyes flutter open. It’s like Christmas for her. Her arms are around your neck clutching you so tight, you can’t help but hate him for what he’s done.
