I like this

I found this while reading a law review article on Duet: Prostitution, Racism and Feminist Discourse:

and when we speak we are afraid
our words will not be heard
nor welcomed
but when we are silent
we are still afraid
so it is better to speak
remembering we were never meant to survive

-Audre Lorde, Litany for Survival, in The Black Unicorn (1978

That is some powerful stuff.

I remember the first time I read Audre Lorde...it was for a Women's Studies class in 2nd yr. uni and her book just blew me away on so many levels.

Hi. I'm adding you as a friend. I'm starting my M.A. in Sociology this Fall at SDSU. I'm moving down to SD in about a month. Do you have any apartment hunting tips? Right now I've just been looking on http://www.sdreader.com.

I too looked on sdreader, you should also try sandiego.craigslist.com I think you'll be able to find plenty of places between the two. The housing crunch might be a little bad though right at the beginning of the school. I've been down here since mid June and it was the perfect time because students were leaving for summer.

Are you thinking of renting a room, having your place, moving in with friends?

Looking through both of them is good. I wish I had the money to move down there already. My parents just volunteered to help me out a little before my financial aid comes.

I'm thinking of getting either a studio/1 bdrm or finding someone who needs a roommate. They'd have to be a cool person though.
