my thoughts on breaking dawn

I decided to write this down as I go. If I try to write something after I finish the book I will have forgotten most of it by then. Also I need a distraction before beginning the second part. When a book is too good I have to put it down after each chapter and do something to distract myself. I get too overwhelmed and have to calm down before I can keep reading.

Plus I want it to last longer.

Anyway, MAJOR spoilers ahead...

book one: bella

I read the preface while my mum was still dragging me around the mall and it was so strange because it's barely one whole page and already I was completely hooked! As soon as I'm not actively involved in something I don't feel as passionate about it anymore, so my Twilight obsession has faded these last couple of months. But wow, after just that one page I was already hyperventilating about Edward!

I loved the beginning of the first chapter. Bella feeling awkward in her new car was such a perfect way to start off. The phone conversation with Seth was adorable. He's so great. His interactions with Edward and how Bella describes it are brilliant.

I was with Edward in my happy place.

I fangirled like crazy when Bella was talking to Jasper in her room. It lasted about a page length but still. Jasper <3 It's strange because my Jasper obsession started after I read the first 3 books. He was just a character to me back then, but now every time they mention his name I get giddy! :D

The wedding was really sweet. I didn't think it would happen so soon in the novel. I was afraid there would be all this drama over whether she ended up marrying him or not. I'm glad Stephenie skipped that. Jacob showing up was...eh. I knew it was going to happen but even still, he's just so annoying! I love that we finally got to meet Tanya and the rest of her clan. And find out a little more about their back story. That was great.

On his face was a familiar exhilarated smile, the one produced by any form of speed.

Isle Esme is cool. I love the idea of them having an island all to themselves. The honeymoon was sweet. I love the beach scene. It ends a little abruptly, the first time I read it I was all "Whaaa?? Wait, go back! What happened?", but now that I read it again I think it really works. The bruises were a nice touch. Obviously she would be somewhat injured. Edward being overridden with guilt really gets on my nerves though so I'm glad it didn't last too long.

At first when Bella started having the dreams it got my thinking (..obviously) and even though I considered the idea that she might have a kid, back then I was pretty sure it was just going to be some random kid she was trying to save. Or a metaphor for her own innocence (which seems to fit the opening quote of the book). But the second she tasted the chicken and didn't like it I started freaking out. "Omg, omg, omg! Bella's pregnant! Aaaaah" and it scared the crap outta me because I completely didn't see it coming. I've read tons of crappy 'And then Bella gets knocked up' fanfiction and it really never seems to work. So I really hope Stephenie knows what she's doing here.

I love that Bella called Rosalie! We always need more Bella/Rosalie interaction.

I know there were a couple other quotes from the first part that I wanted to remember but I forgot them :P I will be more careful to write everything down the second time I read it.

book two: jacob

I didn't have issues with my temper anymore. Except when it got in the way.

I wasn't completely sold on the idea of hearing the story from Jacob's POV, but it really worked. My problem with Jacob has always been that he was always complaining about Edward or trying to convince Bella to leave him, it was just so unbelievably annoying! Mostly because I knew there had to be more to him than just that! We needed to hear this part from his POV, not just because the story couldn't have been told right by anyone else, but because it finally allowed Stephenie to show us who this character actually is.

It took some getting used to, not being so involved with Bella and what she was thinking, but I definitely enjoyed it. His relationship with Leah is brilliant. And Seth may just be the coolest werewolf ever. I really love the bonds he formed with all the Cullen's as well. And his relationship with Rosalie. The blonde jokes are hilarious. I don't like how evil Rosalie seems from Jacobs POV though. She is one of my favorite characters and I hope she gets the chance to redeem herself a little once we switch back to Bella.

book three: bella

Bella's transformation was brilliantly done. Not allowing herself to scream to save Edward from the guilt was perfect. It's exactly who she is. I love how she deals with the changes in herself. How they're described. The role reversal between her and Edward is great. I love that she has to be gentle with him for a change.

Maybe I would just love Edward more than anyone in the history of the world had ever loved anyone else.

Their relationship has changed so much now that she's a vampire but they still feel like Bella and Edward. Thank-god.

OMG!!! Jacob imprinted on Bella's daughter??!!! :O

And I only realised it when Bella did! How embarrassing! There was so much foreshadowing it's crazy! I can't believe I missed it. I love it though! I think this is the single most brilliant thing ever! Except I was kinda getting in to the idea of Jacob and Leah but oh well. This is so great :D

I'm so glad that Bella and Edward are having the whole alone time thing. I was worried that the baby would mean that we lost that core relationship of just those two. The cottage is adorable :) I love how normal it feels right now. At the beginning of the book it really freaked me out because it felt like I was just reading a really good fanfiction. Like none of this was canon. But now that we are finally back in Bella's head, it all feels real. I'm so frickin' relieved!

They keep calling Jasper 'Jazz'. I love it! It makes me smile :P *is obsessed*. Is this the first book they have actually called him that in? I don't remember if they called him that before but it's been a long time since I've read Eclipse and admittedly I wasn't paying as much attention to all things Jasper back then. I love his reaction to Bella as a vampire. He's so confused and we are finally getting a little more insight in to his character!

My relationship with Jasper was now much closer than I'd ever dreamed it would be.

Renesmee. The name is starting to grow on me. At first I flat out hated it and now I only mildly dislike it. At first I wasn't sure about the girl. I had gotten so used to the idea of it being a boy. I have trouble adjusting to change. I think that's why it took so long for this book to feel 'real' to me. Because I hadn't at all prepared myself for this. It was such a shock I went in to denial.

Anyway. I love her power. I think it great. And how she was just showing Bella her day. So adorable. It's funny how, because the book is told from Bella's POV, I always feel her emotions. What I would feel in her position. And it kind of cuts me that Jacob is just an important as she is to her own daughter. It doesn't feel right.

Ok. Now after finishing the book I've kind of gotten used to her name. It's not so bad. And her relationship with Jacob. Its feels right now.

I loved when Alice and Jasper left! I didn't have a clue what they were doing exactly and it was fun to try and figure it out. All the other vampires that showed up were awesome. I love the Romanians. And Kate and Garrett. Bella's training was interesting. I loved watching her power develop. I've read a lot of speculation on what her power would be but no one has had it exactly right.

The final showdown was a bit anti-climatic but I think Stephenie wrote it in just the right way that it doesn't bother you too much. I'll admit though, when Edward suddenly said "Yes!" I thought it was because Aro had decided to fight and they were going to kick some Volturi butt! I should have known Edward isn't that badass... I've always loved Bella showing up Jane though. I really wish she had of yelled out something like "Try it, bitch!" instead of just smiling at her :P

The ending was bittersweet. It really does feel finished to me though. Which is good. There's nothing worse than a book ending and still feeling like its supposed to go on.

It was so great that Edward finally go to see into her mind.

And then we continued blissfully into this small but perfect piece of our forever.

Overall it may have taken me a little while to warm up to the book, but I am very happy with how it ended. Bella and Edward are together and happy. Jacob is still a part of Bella's life but he isn't in love with her anymore. Rosalie was redeemed a little through Bella's POV. Everything ended perfectly.

The one thing I felt warranted a little further explanation was Bella's self control. They only mentioned briefly that it must be because of her preparation, but it was never said with any authority. I do kind of get it though. I mean really the Cullen's can only speculate. It's as much a mystery to them as it is to us. But without an explanation it does seem a little too convenient.

Anyway. That's how I feel about it. What did you guys think?

Oh and I have a crazy random question about something I was thinking of before. When you have a copy of Midnight Sun where are you going to put it on your shelf? Does it go at the end because it was the last book to come out? Or does it go at the beginning because it's more of a prequel? Or are you going to put it in between Twilight and New Moon?

It's probably completely insane for me to worry about that but I can't decide where I'm gonna put it and its annoying me :P
