As of tomorrow, I'm going to try and get more done around the house. It's usually difficult when Hazel's awake which is pretty often. But today I got her a bouncy chair so I can take her with me if I need to do something in another room. I have a bad habit of keeping her company until she falls asleep, so I end up forgetting to eat or tidy. So far ( Read more... ) -

We've not had a good weekend. Poor wee Hazel has been ill since yesterday morning with a high temperature and the runs. We have never had to deal with an ill baby, so we are worried and stressed. After three calls to NHS 24, we got an appointment to see a doctor at Bonnyrigg last night. Apparently it's just a bug and there's nothing to worry about ( Read more... ) -

We are finally getting to the end of our unpacking which means I'll be able to concentrate on other things like the garden. I think our rubbish will also be majorly reduced. We can put any paper or cardboard on the fire, and we just got a kitchen compost bin for food scraps and tea bags. Almost everything else will be recyclable. Unfortunatly, due ( Read more... ) -

Now that we finally have the internet back, I can go on about how great our new house is. We are still unpacking and will probably be unpacking for the next year at this rate, but it is already very homely feeling. The stove is great and really heats up the livingroom. It also gives the house a nice wood smoke smell. The kitchen is lovely and big, ( Read more... ) -

I'm getting really excited about our house now. I can't stop thinking of all the possibilites of the garden and private woods. I'm having thoughts of growing willow coppices which I can then harvest for basket making materials. I'm also looking forward to pretending that the woods are a jungle with Hazel, and we could build her a treehouse. And ( Read more... ) -

I would've posted about this sooner, but I didn't want to jinx myself. We got the house!!!! It's exactly what we want so we're very excited. It's a two bedroom house with a wood burning stove and large garden, as well as private woodland right next to the garden! It's in Penicuik Estate so is in an amazing area of countryside. Hazel seems to be getting used to the massage; she didn't cry quite so much during today's session. There's also the bonus that she sleeps well afterwards. Last night she brought much amusement when she farted in the bath. I was confused for a moment when I heard the bubbles. She's also started trying to play with her toys which is rather exciting ( Read more... ) -

The massage classes seem to be having a positive affect; Hazel has been asleep since we finished at 11am! She's never usually so fast asleep at this time of day. It'll be a good thing to do before bed, then we'll be guaranteed a good sleep. She didn't cry too much during today's lesson which was a relief. I was awoken at 3am this morning by Hazel having a bit of trouble breathing. She seems to have a stuffy nose, and although most of the time she was fine, she would then struggle for a moment.
