Blueprints 004: Music for the soul

When Engie opened up the parcel for him, he had to admit he was fairly surprised and happy to get his guitar back. Taking out the instrument, he proceeded to tune the guitar, glad for something to help him take his mind off what happened during Halloween. Building and modifying machines were good and all, but sometimes he needed a break from them, ( Read more... )

Garage!!!! bye_to_yer_head November 9 2011, 06:31:14 UTC
*Sniper should be manning the garage, or changing the oil of that car up on the lift. But instead he's out back pegging a tire with his bow. There's a good 30 arrows stuck in the thing already.*

(It doesn't take Engie that long to locate the Australian. For a moment, he hovers near the doorway; he's heard enough from others about what happened with the pods, and if Sniper had met his doppelganger...

Eventually though, Engie manages to give a tiny cough.)

Umm...hey there, Sniper.

*He fires another perfect shot before turning around. It would take a lot more than coughing to ruin his concentration.*

Hiya Truckie.

Howdy Slim.

Ummm...I've got ya rifle here. Sorry it took me so long ta finish it.

(Turns out that weird package he was carrying is the sniping rifle the Sniper asked him to fix up a while back ago. It's been modified for left-hander, and should work as normal.)

Wanna give it a go? If there's anythin' wrong with it, I can work on it some more.

No worries. You had a few.. unforseen delays afterall. You get through that alroight?

*Because he hadn't been by to check and he feels bad about that and angry at himself for not being able to set aside his own feelings over something that in the end, didn't even matter. He takes the package and opens it, a small smile on his face as he inspects the weapon.

He reaches in his pocket for some ammo, turns out he's still in the habit of carrying extra with him wherever he goes, even if he doesn't have a gun to use. In one swift practiced motion he loads the gun, cocks it, aims and fires, grinning as a street lamp several blocks away shatters and rains pieces of glass on the sidewalk below. Grinning he pulls the pin back and lets the empty cartridge drop onto the ground at their feet. There's not a hint of hesitation or signs that it might jam, Engie had done good work.*

Yer a real lifesaver Truckie.

I...I did, I guess.

(Hint: NO, he did not.

Engie can't help but grin when the street lamp explodes into bit and pieces of glass. While he's not a fan of vandalizing public property, it still makes him proud to see that his work paid off and that the gun works as it should.)

S'not a problem, Sniper. If ya need anythin' else, feel free ta lemme know. I can get workin' on that shelter on the roof for ya, if ya want.

*Sniper just arches an eyebrow. He was hoping for more details than that.*

(Engie's doesn't really want to talk about it either. But he catches that arched eyebrow. Sighing, he runs his hand over his head.)

I...I killed him with the shotgun. Managed to disable the sentries too. Wasn't...

(His voice wavers and nearly breaks.)

Wasn't...somethin' that I wanted ta do, but it couldn't be helped.

(Not exactly what Engie was hinting at, but he'll take what he can get. He's not comfortable with sharing his psychological problems with the BLU just yet; heck, he hasn't even told any of his RED team mates about it.)

Yeah, it sure does.

Listen, Snipes...if the, the fake me said anythin'...then I apologise. I'm sorry.

Nothin' fer you to apologize about. Not loike he said anything that wasn't true. An' it wasn't you anyway. 'Sides, you fixed my gun. That counts fer a lot.

Yeah, but...but he WAS me, in a way, wasn't he? He knew who I was, knew my work, knew nearly everything about me.
