They parked the car at the lookout, at the national park - because it was a start, follow the river, that was all John could think, follow the river, so he would.

And then he recognised the other car parked at the lookout, and it’s the first lucky break he’d caught tonight, because he was in the right place, and hopefully he wouldn’t be too late.

Oh gosh, this was really heartbreaking for Sam. I always enjoy stories that really explore the kind of childhood they must have had, and tying it up with a case like this was totally gravy for me. :)

Thanks! Yeah, I have a huge soft spot for pre-series fic, because so much could and must have happened to make the boys the way they are now. So it was fun exploring that. Glad you enjoyed it :)
