Today I was scheduled for a one hour class at Nordstrom, but I didn't learn it was canceled until after I had gotten there. Can I still get paid for that hour? I feel that that is reasonable because I expected to be paid for my time today. Otherwise I would have done my laundry.

If htey didn't inform you in Advance I say yes. Or they should pay you for at least your travel time in getting there.
