Dancing up a storm

I went to the gay/lesbian contra dance on Saturday night. It was their second anniversary, and they had some nice extra touches: decorations in the hall, a food table full of goodies (including their punch which, in accordance with tradition, had five ingredients), and wonderful calling by Erik Hoffman ( Read more... )

When I lived in Boston, I used to go to the contra dancing events held in Jamaica Plain. I really enjoyed the balance of both men and women and how the dancing itself was considered "gender free". You are right...it is a lot of work!

You danced in Boston? Is there anything in the gay life you haven't already tried? You are a diamond with many facets.

But you haven't done any contra dancing here? Why not? You should give it another try.

Glad to read that you had a great time. I was planning to go too, but I got invited to a birthday party instead. The last time I went contra dancing (in February), I dragged Donald with me--- and I got him to dance! We had a great time.

Oooo I didn't even consider the live music when making my choice! I think you had the better dance, as the caller at the ECR dance was somewhat bland.
