Fatherless

Oct 05, 2014 19:12

My father, Diego Camarda, passed away this morning. He was 89.

It has been a long journey. Alzheimer's had claimed his mind long before his body gave out.

Do not ask for whom the bell tolls . . . .

I am so sorry for your loss ... I lost my dad in February 2013. He died of colon cancer, but I lost him years earlier to dementia. My condolences ....

So sorry for your loss, Peter. My mom suffered from Alzheimer's 12 years before she passed, and was not the same person at the end. But still just as devastating.

Thanks Mike. It is a devastating illness. So cruel. She is lucky to have you both there in her time of need.

Peter, I am sad for your loss of your father, and for his having endured Alzheimer's. May your memories be of his full life, and may the best of those memories be with you often.

Thank you Charlie. It is a strange transition, from reality to memory. But he did have a very full life.
