What PE class did you sign up for? I took a Yoga class from city a few years back that was quite good. I think the teacher's name was Yvonne something. :)

Just the workout class in the weight room. I'd like to take yoga too, but I'm already using one night for Chinese, one for squaredancing, and one for therapy. Until I have a job and know my schedule, it seemed best not to fill in the space much more.

Do you remember the teacher's name? I'd like to take Yoga at some future point.

Hope your operation went well!

Her name is Yvonne Banuet-Alvers. She is a 50-something very athletic and positive thinking woman who made the class a good workout -I took beginning yoga twice, but the second time was really un-challenging and dull (and more just meditation really) compared to the first time around with Yvonne. I recommend her highly.

My "upper endoscopy" procedure revealed a normal esophagus. Yay!

Spring Thoughts hardybear February 4 2006, 22:16:12 UTC
Thanks Robert.

We are both thinking of new beginnings, this time of year, eh?

In Spring, a gay man's fancy lightly turns to thoughts of a new life . . .

So, did you choose Mandarin or Cantonese?

I'm going back to school this year, thanks to free tuition at Dominican.

Dominican doesn't have any language other than Spanish, but College of Marin has Mandarin and I've considered taking that class (also free through Dominican). It might turn out to be useful considering Expo 2010 will be in Shanghai.

That's wonderful Urso! I think you will enjoy being at school. You have the kind of mind that enjoys intellectual play.

I am taking Mandarin. My friend is Cantonese, but he told me that he also learned Mandarin--everyone who is serious about doing business in the Chinese community learns it now. In the old days, Cantonese was more popular, because it was the language of exiles from Communism, but now that we are doing business with mainland China on a large volume basis, it doesn't make sense to ignore Mandarin.

Also, since my friend appears to be losing interest in me, I'm glad I took the language choice that is valid even without him!

We could do a pan=Asia trip in 2010 and go to Shanghai with our Chinese, and to Tokyo with my Japanese, and have a grand old time!

See you soon,

Peter

I wanna go on the pan-asian trip too. I don't speak the languages, but I love the food!

P.S. I think your chinese friend is a fool.
