Why thank you, m'dear! :) Haha, well, liking their hair is enough to enjoy plenty of the costumes. A lot of the people who dress up for the conventions create such elaborate costumes that even when I don't know what they are, I still get a real kick out of them. Anytime anyone puts something in their eyes, I immediately give a nod because I wouldn't even be able to get a real contact in mine. XD
I actually saw quite a few non-anime costumes as well--Dr. Who, Bane, Cat Woman, Hulk, Obi-Wan/Sith Lords, Halo suit and other videogame folks, etc. I even saw a Jack Frost from Rise of the Guardians and the genderswapped characters from Adventure Time. Very eclectic mix. :)
i like all the gravity defyingness of their hair lol yeah, i tried to put a color contact in my eye once and it took me literally 30 minutes just to get the damn thing in and then when it was in it made my eye water so much and it burned and stung like shit, no bueno :(
Yes! I saw someone that had a massive spike of hair that defied gravity like a proud lighthouse. Some of the styling that goes into those wigs, and in some cases someone's real hair, is just astounding sometimes. I won't even take the time to hair spray my hair most of the time. Ha. XD
Oh my goodness OUCH. What color contact were you trying out? Was it from an optometrist/ophthalmologist? Mine has said before it's lucky I don't want contacts because I'm such a spaz about things being near my eye.
I've heard that the US is a lot more stringent about color contact sales (as in, getting them from an eye doctor even when they're only cosmetic) vs. some asian countries where you can just buy some plastic cosplay contacts at a shop. I feel like it'd be way too easy to hurt your eyes with those...especially if they're hard to get in...
It was nice and toasty down there around midday, so I hoovered in some summer heat I'd been missing. :) It was pretty weather for the most part (not meltingly hot for con-goers like the year I went for the convention), and I was excited to recognize some of the outfits trickling through the harbor. Otakon was the first and only con I've been to, so I was kind of oddly nostalgic watching folks roam by--I'd really like to go back sometime...and I'd like to see more! :)
Just from the one-time taste I had, I can see why people get addicted--so much to do and see, people to meet and fun to be had! :) Do you sample new/different cons very often?
