ARGH!

I have started to hate spending money on supposedly high quality housewares because they seem to get screwed up just as often as the cheap stuff and then I feel like an idiot for spending money on them.

Overall I find the good quality stuff pays off. Even with doing the research, etc., one can get a dud but the net benefit of money spent on quality has been positive. Frex, my oft-used KitchenAid standing mixer is over 20 years old, still going strong, and has never needed repair.

Since Anchor Hocking's PR dept hasn't picked up on this post *and* hasn't asnwered my email, I will be calling them soon. Expect a report thereafter.

A-H sent me an email in which they said that while their warranty still doesn't cover the lids (cough*bullshit*cough) they'd send me them for free anyway. A good sign but I'll only declare success when I have all four sets of lids in my hands. Since I have the receipt[1] to prove I did, indeed, buy 4 sets of bowls, I hope I get all 4 sets of lids.

[1] I staple receipts to the warranty & care instructions the file the whole kit-and-kaboodle, although what possessed me to save it for something this small I don't know.

Dear Harimad,

We're going out to dinner Monday at Woodlands restaurant in Hyattsville, 8046 New Hampshire Avenue, at 6:30. Can I expect to see you there? (It's an Indian vegetarian restaurant, BTW.)

Best Regards,
Nicholas Rosen, one of your imaginary friends
