I guess i missed the part where the stepcat was a bad thing.....but maybe that's because I am a crazy cat lady, and have made my world feel fuller by adopting two tiny, and somewhat terrorist felines. I guess there will be not candles on my altar for a while. I hope that stepcat found somewhere else nice to live.....
The stepcat was a holy terror, leaping everywhere, attacking my feet, attacking my roommate, yowling all night long, flinging herself against doors when they were closed, being alternately needy and homicidal, and entirely too high-energy and spastic for the apartment. While I might have found her tolerable and even calmed her down in time, my roommate did not appreciate it and she has no reason to have to live in an environment she doesn't like. The stepcat went home with her mother to Bushwick.
In a few months, once my PTCD has worn off, I will be in the market for an old, fat, lazy, stupid, male cat whose only desire in life is to lay around on my couch, sleep, eat, and purr while he is being scratched.
oddly enough, the old fat lazy male cat is easier to find, at least around here. If you want it to be extra affectionate look for a Maine Coon, which are fluffy stripey things that are enormous and want nothing besides love, treats, and the belly scratch. So, I'm all confused, was the crazy cat Amy's? Hence the step I suppose....my experience is that when choosing kitties, get a boy, they are more loving. When choosing doggies, get a girl, they are smarter. Of course, my room is inhabited by the equivalent of two eight year old boys who routinely make sport out of destroying things. And I must away, as one of them is standing on the keyboard, and the other is trying to scale the drapes...
No... the crazy cat was a friend of mine's, and the "step" was mostly only to distinguish between "my" cat and another's cat. Particularly because initially this was supposed to last several months, and instead lasted three weeks because the cat is a demon. And Amy assures me, after her time working in a shelter, that the old fat lazy male cat will be easy to find, because for some strange reason, that's not what most people want out of a cat...
