The Pennsic Resolutions in Review:

1.)  I will not snark others, no matter how much they deserve to be snarked.  This includes any comments on garb, or elf ears.

This one was rough.  I think I made it to Tuesday.  And I'd also like a definition on snarking.

If something is categorically, obviously bad, is it snarking to say so, or is it only snarking if its nebulously bad in some way ( Read more... )

I tend to think of snarking as criticism made for the specific intent of belittling another at your own enjoyment, and for the glory of the entertainment of the person you made the comment to.

For example, thinking to yourself, 'Gosh, that outfit looks awful on her, but maybe it's all she can manage. I shall endeavor to support her enjoyment of her experience.' is not snarking.

Saying out of the side of your mouth to your companion, 'Would you look at that fat cow! How can she possibly imagine she has the body to wear anything like that! I'd rather die than come out in company looking like that!', and hoping for a giggle or an 'oh, don't you know!' from your companion... That's snarking.

Complaining about people being negative because it brings you down, isn't snarking. It's just...complaining. Maybe without a resolution, but still...

i will second you on the snarking resolution. except mine has extended to bad gossip in general, and it is SO HARD because I LOVE GOSSIP. i don't think i was too snarky, but i do it pretty easily w/garb. part of it is ego boosting for myself (bad reason) and part of it is that people's lack of garb is ruining my medieval experience. meh.

killing sir fern = awesome. go you (and girard).

still wanna pay you to do achievements, which we never did talk about.

That's my problem too. I don't snark people who actually *try*. But I am *way* too snarky about the people who are there to play a somewhat different game. Which doesn't really encourage them to play mine. :(

The best part about killing Sir Fern was that we did it just like we practiced without even having to call out how to do it. I approached and circled to the left, threatening with my pole arm. Livia went to the right and gave Sir Fern a shot to the back. Perfect, quick, and efficient.

I totally read that as "Scrotum Jousting".
There were a whole lot of unfortunate images that went through my head before I realized that is NOT what you typed.

Glad you had a good time at Pennsic!
