I thought that I was good at this sort of thing, feeling people out, getting to know them, sounding them out so that I would have a sense of what to do with them. As if I were a mechanic and they were parts to sort, everything and everyone has its place, and I know what I'm looking at most of the time, this should be easy, right?

The problem with that, though, is the assumption that every person has a place, or that they're the right size part. Or that they can be sorted at all. I don't like what the analogy implies... only seeing people based on how they fit into your world.

My first impulse is to try to offer advice, but I have none, and probably wouldn't be good at it anyway.

I hope (and pray) that someday you'll find someone who balances, appreciates, and works with your passion and intensity.
