Bi The Way

So I'm starting to rethink this whole bisexual thing. I'm thinking that it's a label and like most labels, inaccurate. I have encountered two gay men in the recent past, both of which have tried or actually felt me up. I have been felt up by both men and women at this point and I do not like it when guys do it. It could be that these are just not ( Read more... )

your entry reminded me of this article i read in ym about 5 billion years ago. basically, this girl wrote in and said she was attracted to another girl and wanted to know if that meant she was gay/bi/whatever. and the woman who answered back said that wasn't necessarily so, but that it was equally likely she was attracted to the girl because she possessed qualities the girl writing in wanted to have herself (physical or otherwise).

You have it exactly, on the dot, precisely.

And the more I think about it, I think that I think the qualities I wish I had myself (physical and otherwise) are those I find attractive in other men. By the same token, looking back I think that weakness may also be part of the charm. The flaws I see in myself that I feel are the most apparent I see in men I find attractive. Perhaps it is that I want to vicariously possess the traits I feel I lack and commiserate with someone with the same flaws I have. Or something like that.

Sexuality is a slippery devil.

First of all, let me apologize for being a horrendous friend and not calling you back. I am eternally, eternally sorry and I hope that if you are ever back in this direction, you will give me another ring and we can hang out. Pleaseeee forgive me ( ... )

Don't worry about not calling me back. If I'd thought of it sooner, I could have made better plans, but it was one of those spur of the moment things. Don't be so apologetic! We missed each other, it happens. I forgive you and love you for the sentiment. I may be back in late July/early August(?) probably a weekend. Once I know, I'll give ya a buzz.

I really appreciated your response. I feel like I'm in a similar place, difference being I don't have a Josh/girlfriend. I think we have that same attractedness to the opposite sex, but does that make it automatically sexual? Do you classify yourself as bisexual just because you find the other sex attractive? Or is it something else. I don't know. I think that there's a large extent to which sexuality is situational, depending on where you are and who the other person is. I'm pretty sure I'll figure this out eventually. Probably won't solve the question of what sexuality ultimately is, but at least get a working definition for my own life.

I hope you're right, I'd like to find someone.
