i think it'd be even better if arthur is a total delinquent and his parents are all like, OK DEAR YOU MAY GO ON A ROAD TRIP, WE TRUST YOU, but in fact arthur does not care if eames puts cigarette burns in the upholstery, whatever. he didn't earn the money for this road trip working at the convenience store like his parents think he did, in fact he won most of it playing poker because he has a sweet face and people never suspect him of being a card shark until it's too late. meanwhile eames scams them out of the rest of their money in a more criminal manner. and the two of them take their ill-gotten gains on the road and eat terrible food with their feet dangling out of the windows of the convertible when it's the other boy's turn to drive.

I wouldn't complain.

Especially if they get sunburnt on only one side of their bodies from driving and Eames steals sunglasses from truckstops, looks seriously offended when someone mistakes one or both of them for prostitutes and makes fun of Arthur haven't hairy toes.

... or something.

Lolita!AU - Warning: age difference, suicide (but still slightly less of a downer than the original!)

Arthur is Mal's 17 year old brother. Eames (late twenties?) is Dom and Mal's friend. Dom and Mal are married with kids and are raising Arthur because their parents aren't around. When Arthur was at summer camp, Mal committed suicide. Dom didn't want to tell Arthur over the phone, so Eames was sent to pick him up with strict instructions not to say anything. Flirty road trip fun ensued! (Established relationship or not is up to the author, in the movie the clip was only their second kiss.)

The night before they're supposed to arrive, Eames told Arthur about Mal because he thought he should be prepared aaaaaand we have h/c. (Crying optional) Bonus if they have sex for the first time the morning after :D
