Over the course of the past few days I've spoken with quite a few people to get their views on this occurance and came to the conclusion that America, on the whole, moved faster to give money and bring relief to victims of ( Read more... )

my mom really wants us to go voulenteer to do something, ANYTHING. I agree that the manner in which this was dealt with is digusting. I have no money to give, but i'd gladly give anything else I have to be a part of the relief efforts.....apparently theyre sending like 500 victims to middletown in navy housing, or those who will come. maybe that will open up some more oppertunities to help. I agree with everything you said though. even though the worlds gonna end now and its still your fault =P

I am completely shocked at the fact that more people aren't coming together to help. I am disgusted at how little the government is providing and how long they're taking to help people. The damage this storm has caused has by far exeeded 9/11. Ten fold, no doubt about it. I cried today watching that benefit(I watched it online since I don't have a TV). Because I can't beleive how bad things are, I can't imagine being homeless or lost or vulnerable like those people are. If I had money, I'd give it. I want to donate things that I own, but I have yet to find an organization that wants to take anything but money. I think I'll bring some clothes to a salvation army tomorrow though, I think they're affiliated with Red Cross.

Watch this entire video. It's from a few days ago, but still.

I couldn't agree more. If it's any consolation I cried as well. Something needs to be done and, while it's late in coming, I think things are starting to kick into gear. People are beginning to realize that this really is a problem and not just something to brush over and forget.

As for donating to the Salvation Army I'm sure they could do something if you told them specifically that it was a donation for the Katrina victims. I'm glad that there are people who agree with me on this.
