He admits that they are inspired by Pokemon, but these guys actually talk and are responsible for their own powers and all that jazz. If you take a look through the characters on the website, you can almost tell which characters are the older ones and which ones are the more recent, grown up creations. His story lines about them, in the currently written novel, and in the novels he has outlines for, are absolutely nothing like any Pokemon storylines.

It kind of has that wide appeal thing going on. Yes, good for kids, but appealing to adults too. I mean, Pokemon and Harry Potter were created for 'kids' but there are many many adults who are fans as well.
The video and story outline/plot summary are very anime/videogame-ish, which I actually thinks is good. (Let's see how many more / I can use in a sentence, yeesh.) Anyhoo, even if the book doesn't take off (though I know many people that would read it), it could very easily be pitched to a video game company and as sad as it may be, a lot more people play video games than read these days.
He's already considered the video game angle. Actually, he's created a fighting game using the characters. He's got a bit of tweaking to do on it, then it's going up onto the website as well. He's put a lot of time and work into this. I'm really proud of him.
