GJ, I stab you with a pointy stick

Greatestjournal has become more and more frustrating recently - and I'm at my breaking point. Seriously, there's no point in even leaving my journal up anymore. If the site wasn't already on its last legs, I'd just delete the thing and give it a nice e-funeral. That is, if I could even access my journal. I can view it, but I can't edit it in ( Read more... )

Man, that kinda blows about GJ. I knew it was getting to be too much once they started hacking at our icon number.

As much as I've heard people piss and moan and "Omg, they're such backstabbers!!1!11eleventyone!!" about livejournal, at least there isn't THAT much of a risk of the servers failing, them not wanting to start the shit back up again, and us being screwed out of our blog system.

Still, it's irritating to put some time and effort into a place like that, only to find they've changed their minds and are dropping their users.

*is dying, but I know everything I need to (I hope) for my test tomorrow! Yay!!*

The ever-changing icon number was one of my main complaints. It drove me insane when I logged on and found that I couldn't use 90% of my icons because they were "inactive." *eyes glow red*

Gah, I can't stand it when people work themselves into a frenzy about how horrible LJ is. I'll be the first person to admit that it has its faults, but I've never worried that the server is going to suddenly and spectacularly crash. At least if it did, the admin would be willing to devote the time necessary to fix it. (I hope they would, anyway. Losing GJ admittedly isn't that much of a loss, but if LJ went down I would start a one-woman riot with my one-cat army.)

Good luck with your test! I don't have any tests until March, but I've got a shitload of papers in the next two weeks. College is evil.

I was strangely enough the person who defended lj years ago when everyone first started leaving it for gj just because of the 'iconage'. Being the untrusting person that I am who is always suspicious of ulterior motives, I knew that was a fad that would NOT last... In fact, regarding ff.net, something tells me that site won't even be around by the time I'm thirty. (If I'm alive).

I was never worried that LJ was going to crash spectacularly, but I figured that it wouldn't hurt to have an extra journal just in case. I didn't have anything particularly important over there, but it still annoys me that I can't even access the thing.

To be honest, I consider it a miracle that ff.net is even around now. I really wouldn't be too upset if it dies for good. (I still refuse to forgive them for deleting the blink-182 section. >____>)

I remembered when GJ could allow up to 2000 icons maximum. I was roleplaying over there... And now that you mention IJ, I'm now roleplaying there, in another community.

I wonder what's going on over at GJ? Bandwith problems, maybe?

I hope I don't have to move my RP community once I get back to it (and that may be some time).

I just find all this news odd...

GJ still allowed 2000 icons when I joined in May. I got to experience the good for a while before witnessing the rapid decline.

I'm not entirely sure what the problem is, but I think bandwidth problems are a major part of it. Part of the initial problem, anyway. The latest snafu is the result of a massive server crash. Admit isn't sharing many details. The news post explaining it was basically, "Massive server crash; fuck off and head to IJ."

The site it staying up for a while so people can export their journals/comms, but there's problems with that as well.

Now all they have to do now is change their name to Biggestloserjournal.com. Lol, 'cause they're not so great anymore.

Well, you already saw my first reply, so I won't repeat was was said (LOL), but yes, I always hated GJ with a passion.

EDIT: For reasons unknown, I've had "I'll Make a Man Out of You" from Mulan stuck in my head for the past few days. And I mean stuck. Gah......

OMG, HELL YES! Matthew Laborteux FTW! (He played my favourite character in Little House on the Praire, Albert Ingalls, and also sang that song in Mulan. XD;;) I am such a nerd...
