I'm probably not the best person to ask for advice on this subject. :-P Yes, it is annoying that some of the coolest stuff carries the stigma of extreme dorkery (Magic cards are even worse), but just think how much fun you're having.

I think the best comparison is fantasy sports, an incredibly dorky number-crunching game with no physical activity and a strong sense of group bonding. If it's OK to hit F5 repeatedly on espn.com, it should be OK to roll funny dice.
