Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
Getting into things here, there`s something that I wanted to read that I found on the Wizard News website. It`s wizardnews.com and it was published last year but I didn`t get to read it till lately, going through the news just to see. It says,
“Rumours: Deathly translations and alternate titles” and this is by Dave Haber, Wizard News Managing Editor. It says,
“With the release of the title of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows on Thursday, it is interesting to see how media worldwide has translated the title. Our friend Martin over at RedFlu.com has compiled a list of some of them. In Brazil, the new book has been called "Harry Potter e os Santos Mortais". [sorry] In Spanish it is "Harry Potter y los Santos Mortales", in Catalan Spanish it is "Harry Potter i Les Relíquies" and in Italian, "Harry Potter e i Santi Mortali."
Sorry for all that, anyway it goes on,
“French sources have reported two titles, "Harry Potter et la Sanctification de la Mort" and "Harry Potter et la Mort Sanctifiée. While these are translations by media sources only and have nothing to do with anything official, it is interesting to see what meanings of the words "deathly" and "hallows" that other sources around the world are jumping to.
Meanwhile, El Cronista de Salem from HarryLatino.com has done some research into the patents archives at patent.gov.uk and has discovered some interesting facts.
On December 5, 2006, "The Deathly Hallows" was registered by Field Fisher Waterhouse, interestingly, without the "Harry Potter and", possibly so as not to draw attention.
However, on the same day, the same party also registered these titles: "The Deadly Veil" (not Deathly) and "The Heart of Ravenclaw."
Is it possible these are the other two titles that JK said she was considering last month? If so, it's possible they shed some light into what happens in the course of Book 7.
However, it's also possible that they were not under real consideration as titles and they mean nothing at all.
Finally, HPANA has reported an anonymous tip that Barnes and Noble, like many other book retailers, is taking reservations for Book 7, but unlike the others, Barnes and Noble's Bookmaster system, their inventory management database, is displaying a release date of 7/7/07. While this date is the fervent hope of many Harry Potter fans, there has been no kind of info from anywhere else that this date is in any way accurate. I don`t know about you, but even though book 6 was a major disappointment to me, I`m looking forward to reading book 7. If I can ever get through book 6 [laughs] Lisa`s still trying to get me to listen to it with her and I just can`t bring myself to even listen to the CDs let alone read the book. I`ve gotta do that though before book 7 comes out because if not I`ve got this feeling that even though I`ve heard a lot through rumors and internet, I think I`m going to be lost. So… and plus too, I`ve read the last five books, I have to read book 6. Gotta read the whole series.
FAN FICTION AUTHOR PUBLISHES FIRST BOOK
Also on Wizard news they published a story that a fan fiction author just published her first book. And supposedly she wrote her fan fiction story after book 6 came out. So to you fan fiction authors out there what do you think of that? Basically Random House was… saw her story, offered her a book deal and she`s got her first book out. Kinda surprised me really, I know there are some Harry Potter fan fiction authors that are being published, they have book deals and are writing their books. But the fact that she was tapped into so quickly and already has the first book out, kind off amazes me… I don`t know. What do you guys think about it? You can email me or call in, let me know. Here it is,
“The debut novel from a Chilean writer who shot to fame after writing her own Harry Potter fanfic has been released. Journalism student Francisca Solar was contracted to write the novel by publishers Random House, following the online success of her unofficial Harry Potter story.”
The story was titled “Harry Potter and the Decline of the High Elves.” I`ve never heard of this story before. Any of you out there, if you`ve read it, I`d love to hear what you think about it. Do you think she was good enough to be published? The story continues, it says,
“Launched at the recent Frankfurt Book Fair, La Septima M centres on a mysterious series of suicides amongst young people in the fictional community of Puerto Fake.”
They have a quote from her that says,
"All the things I know about literature, about writing, I learned in the fan fiction world," Solar told BBC World Service's The Word programme. "I owe it everything."
Solar began her writing career when she found she was so disappointed with JK Rowling's fifth Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, that she wanted to write her own sequel to it.
The Decline of the High Elves became a massive online smash, generating 80,000 views and positive reviews from Harry Potter fans around the world.
“When I read the fifth book, I was so disappointed - I'm a very critical reader, and I'm a huge fan, so the expectation of this fifth book was great," Solar said.
"I took the principal characters and I did a story that is more rich than Rowling's story, because you can have access to the thoughts and feelings of all of the characters.”
So basically she didn`t do it from Harry`s point of view she did it from every single character. Then it goes on,
"In the Harry Potter saga, you can only have access to Harry's feelings and thoughts. That is a partial view of the Potter universe."
She admitted she had never expected the global response to her work.
"Many people from all around the world have written to me, from the US, from the UK, from Asia," she said.
"All these people wrote to me about the fanfic and said they liked it more than the official sixth book [Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince]."
However, the editors at Random House insisted they did not want "another JK Rowling" and wanted something fresh - hence La Septima M, which will itself be followed up by two further books to complete a trilogy.”
I don`t know about some of you, some of my stories have had over 200,000 hits now and I get emails from around the world, where`s my book deal? [laughs] Have any of you guys been offered a book deal? Hello Random House we`re here, you know, wonder if she`s even a shipper? It doesn`t say anything about shipping. I might just look up her story here and read it just to see, cause reading that story I`m… it`s got my interest peaked now. So I might just take a look at it and I`ll let you guys know what and I think. And if any of you guys, like I said, have read it email me, call, let me know I`d really love to hear your opinions on that. And on the first story as well with the three different titles, possible titles I should say excuse me.

NEW HARMONY PODCAST GALLERY
Other than that, last week I got in contact with a publisist over at Warner Brothers and asked what I would need to do to get the website on their email mailing list for the promotional pictures and press releases that they do for the movies. Surprisingly they replied right back, about 15 minutes after I had originally written, and said that they had put me on the mailing list. And then they proceeded to email me every promotional picture they had released so far.
Now being completely thrilled with that, I contacted Nappa and Sandra, Sandra is from harryandhermione.org and she does the layout for the website. Out of that we got a picture gallery loaded into the website so now Harmony Podcast has a picture gallery. I took all the pictures that Warner Brothers sent me, I posted them all up there and there will be a link to the gallery on the homepage as soon as I can get the little graphic made for it.
I`m going to be posting not only the Warner brothers promo pics but I`m also going to make sections for Daniel Radcliffe the actor, Emma Watson the actress, of course the Harry/Hermione pairing and any pictures of Harry Hermione from the movies. And in the Harry/Hermione category manipulations are welcome as well. If you make Harry/Hermione manipulation pictures and you`d like to post them somewhere feel free to email them to me or just post them somewhere, a link to them on the website or in a comment on a Live Journal. And I`ll go save them and upload them onto the website for everybody to see. But it`s up to you if you want to share, if not that`s fine.
I`m also going to have a fan art section in the gallery and I would love for any Harry/Hermione fan artists to submit your work for us to use. We would love to be able to put your work on display. I just want to make this a really wonderful Harry/Hermione picture gallery for all of our fellow shippers to share. You know, I know in a lot of others you see pictures, other actors, pairings and stuff like that. This is just Harry/Hermione, the whole theme of the website is Harry/Hermione so might as well keep with it and just go from there. The gallery opened yesterday which was Monday the 29th January.
HARMONY PODCAST MYSPACE
On Sunday before that, after having a few people mention it and kinda require, request it, I went to myspace and I opened a myspace for the podcast. Big thanks to sweet_lemmon for the invite so that I could join. If you are a member of myspace we`d love for you to come on over and friend us. Just come on over, it is friends only so you have to submit a friends request but I`ve been adding everybody as long as I know who you are I`m adding you. Of course you know of course how careful I am with that, especially Live Journal wise, very careful about who we accept as friends. Have to be careful nowadays with some shippers trying to cause problems still.
Phoenix Rising
Other news besides that, if you`re going to Phoenix Rising in May, I would love for some of you guys to do reports. If you have something you can record yourself on and you`re comfortable recording yourself, we`d love a report from you. If you want to interview other shippers, other convention goers, that would be great. We`d love for you to do that. Also video, if you`re taking a video camera with you and you get some really good video of it we`d love to have you submit it for HTV.
Valentines Day Fics
Couple of other things, for February we will not be doing a fan fiction contest this year for Valentines Day. Christmas we only had three submissions and truthfully that`s not enough, we more than that and submissions have been going down ever since we started this. So we`re just going to basically put it out there, if you have a Valentines Day fan fic that you`ve written and you`d like to submit it for consideration for reading on Harmonics email it to me

National Child Abuse Awareness Month podcast for April
And April of course if you`ve listened to the podcast this past year/year and a half it`s been out, you know that last April I did a very special podcast for National Child Abuse Awareness month. I will be doing that again this year because it`s a subject that`s very close to me. And I`m starting to get it together early because I`d really like to make this one special. Last year was the very first one I ever did and I did not expect the response that I got. You guys were just so great, so positive about it and it helped two people at least that I know of. So if we can help a few others that`s great, and I wanna do that. So what we`re doing is, if you`ve been in an abusive relationship or you are now, or you know somebody who has been abused, I know how hard it is to talk about but we would like you to share your story. I`m hoping that if abuse victims hear others sharing their stories it`ll give them the courage and the strength to tell someone if they`re being abused. Maybe they can get the help they need. Any little thing helps and if we can help give them courage and strength to get out of a really bad situation I wanna be able to do that.

I know how hard it is, it`s taken me years to be able to talk about my situation. And it can take a while for you to be able to talk about it too. PODCAST ALLEY AND PODCAST PICKLE
And last thing here before we get to the second song, voting on Podcast Alley You guys have been excellent this month, we have last time I checked, over 130 votes just for this month alone. That is the most we have ever gotten since being on Podcast Alley and we`re ranked 24th right now over like 28000 podcasts total on that thing were 24th which is excellent for a podcast on shipping.
One thing we`re adding, I don`t know if you`ve heard of it, Podcast Pickle [laughs] sounds kind of funny I know. But it`s another podcast site, they do the same thing as Podcast Alley but it`s not monthly it`s yearly. So if you wanna add Harmony Podcast to your favourites over at Podcast Pickle, there`s a link over on the Harmony Podcast Live Journal profile page. And you just click on that, it`ll take you to our page on Podcast Pickle [laughs] that`s so funny to say. And [laughs] it`s just, add us to your favourites if you would and the more adds we have the higher up the favourites list we get. And instead of resetting every month like I said, they go yearly. Hello everyone! This is Gwen from The Anvil E-zine.com bringing you this month's Harmonian news.
I hope everyone had a good holiday season - I know I did - but if you did not, HP fandom has certainly gifted us within the last month. On December 21st, as I'm sure most of you know, we found out the title of Book 7. Now, what you were suppose to do is go to JK Rowling's website, go behind the website door, and then solve a game of hangman that revealed the title. However, if you're lazy like myself, you just waited until HPANA figured it out. But, it's now official - Bloomsbury, Harry Potter's UK publisher, has announced the title as Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. (And that's with an "A", and not two "O's".) Hmm, right. As if I didn't already know that the last book would have death and mass destruction. But speaking of book 7, The ArtCast podcast interviewed Harry Potter illustrator Mary GrandPré last December, and of course asked about any news on Deathly Hallows. She stated that she didn't know anything about the book yet; which is to be expected, since Rowling hasn't even finished a first draft. But she does talk about wanting to paint Hagrid in color, and that her favorite book cover was Order of the Phoenix. On December 29th, the first three Harry Potter movies on DVD were pulled from store shelves. It was announced by Warner Bros. last July that they would do this, along with plans for Goblet of Fire being pulled February 9th. The practice is called "Moratorium", and it's akin to what Disney does with its movies, aka, "Behind the vault". Some of the reasons for this might be the rise in High-Definition technology, along with wanting to stoke holiday sales. But don't fret - if you do have HD, Warner Bros has plans to release the movies in high-def later this year. If you would like to read more about this, there will be a link in the show notes. On January 19th USAToday published a short piece on the upcoming OotP movie, along with a quote by David Yates saying that Phoenix is, "... the most emotionally complex one so far". (And I'm sure many people just joined me in saying, "No DUH!") However, the article is accompanied by a new picture of Harry in King's Cross Station, so if you would like to view it, there will be a link in the show notes. And speaking of the OotP movie, there have been news scans released of Phoenix merchandise. Some of these items include the requisite bookmarks, key chains, and desk calendars, along with a DELUXE Hogwarts Great Hall play set, Harry and Draco Quidditch Seeker wand remote controls, and - for the DE in your life - a Lucious Malfoy Death Eater mask, with voice-changing capabilities. Most items will be available in June, with the other items - I suspect like the desk calendars - will be available in September. On January 18th, it was announced that JK Rowling has been listed on Forbe's annual "20 Richest Women in Entertainment" list. She joins the company of Oprah Winfrey, Martha Stewart, Madonna, and Celine Dion; all forming the top five. As we know from a couple years ago, Rowling has dismissed being this wealthy, but as Forbe's states, "The film series--from which Rowling enjoys a cut of royalties and merchandising--has proven astoundingly successful, with the total gross for the four films already released topping $3.5 billion." Not to mention that Half-Blood Prince has made it into the Guinness Book of World Records for the fastest-selling book in history, so, how can you fault their assumption. I`ve gotten behind due to being sick here lately so my writing suffered a bit as well as the podcasting. But I`m trying to catch up here now that I`m feeling better so hopefully we`ll get things going again and I`ll start posting chapters here soon.
