I feel like doing some memes! Because classes are done (mostly; one more lecture tomorrow that I don't have to pay attention to totally doesn't count), and I don't feel like starting final papers tonight

Re: 3 -- I'm now imagining that Roy takes Ed out for a drink soon before Ed & Winry's wedding (they TOTALLY get hitched before Roy & Riza do) and Roy is all, "Watch out about having KIDS because you and I both know what shitty parents ALCHEMISTS are," and it's sort of a joke but also serious and Ed listens to him for a while and then is like, "Yeah she's pregnant, dumbass, but your timing is as good as it ever was." But Ed & Win have worked through stuff by that point. Roy, well. . .

Well, in my head it's all tied up with getting to the end of their redemption arc, and being like, "Oh, hey, we won and we changed for the better and we didn't go to prison but also nobody WANTS OUR HELP running their civilian government. Unaccustomed optimism + need for a new project > temporary insanity leading to reproduction. But there's a reason they just have the one.

That makes sense. Whereas Ed and Win actually DO want kids, and finally worked out their issues, but possibly didn't time the actual conception very well.

Oh, really? I don't remember that but I don't doubt it.
I imagine that Winry keeps working right up until the moment the contractions start, sending Ed into a complete tizzy, because Winry is supposed to be the person who can HANDLE these things, and now she's on the other side of it!

I think it's part of the explanation for why the kids are named Elric instead of Hohenheim, but I might be misremembering the phrasing. Not that I think Woenheim is Ed's role model, but it also suggests nobody would find it all that scandalous.
I think i had this whole brainstorm around the idea of Roy & Riza giving their kid the last name 'Hawkeye', and Ed would be like, 'Yeah, my parents did that, of course, that was because Dad was going to TAKE OFF AS SOON AS HUMANLY POSSIBLE.' And Roy's like, 'Dude, whatever problems I'm going to have as a parent, it won't be THAT.'

"So you KNEW how fucked up it was going to be for me, growing up in this country. WONDERFUL."
To be fair, she totally gives as good as she gets. It's the Mustang in her. And, well, the Hawkeye in her TOO, but nobody ever admits that. Riza's such a sweetie, and, also, if you cross her, she will cut you.

This is why she needs Elysia: someone who is charmed, but who is also willing to say, "Um, honey, maybe you DON'T have to attack that dude for asking you a question?"

"Parents" being an abstract concept for Roy probably doesn't help, either. How do he and Riza eventually decide to have a kid?
