hah, you too read that post about the 100 meteorite strikes on the moon we've observed only this year?

i love the moon is a harsh mistress by robert heinlein. apart from everything else, the moon colonists live underground in caves and tunnels, because y'know, it makes sense to get some rock between you and the radiation and meteorite strikes on the surface.

I got started on that book... I should try to finish. I thought it was neat, the style seemed a bit different, although much of what i'd read by heinlein before was his YA stuff like Starship Troopers, uhm... other things I forget...

wait, was ST a young adult book? I can't remember. It was definitely a 'robert heinlein gets to tell people how he thinks the world should work' book.

i'm not sure ST was meant as a young adult novel (a bit to many millions killed), although it does share many similarities with them. i would say that starship troopers is the only example i know of where the film was better than the book.

while the moon is a harsh mistress contains massive amounts of preaching, it is also well written, exiting, thought provoking and has some interesting characters.
