Rick was an interesting person, both prior to turning 18 and after. We met in an Explorer Post devoted to the arts; he sang, I played in the orchestra. We became friends, through some amusing and somewhat bizarre Explorer events

This was beautiful. Thanks for posting it, it really touched my heart. I know how close you were with Rick and I'm just glad we could share our happiness with him on the way back from Indiana. He will be in our thoughts and hearts always.

Thanks. I just hope he got to read the holiday letter I sent him; it would have arrived a day or two before his death. I mentioned both of you and how well you both are doing.
