Live instrumentalists rock my world

Here's a link to a short piece I wrote over the weekend. It features the brilliant and lovely mixophrygian  on clarinet. And me on harp. The rest is virtual orchestra, but I really feel like this is one of those cases where the ear gets pulled to the live solo instrument and unless you're a composer or particularly have a critical ear for these things, you don ( Read more... )

I was going to say it was all mature and slightly bittersweet, until allofasudden the orc army got released at the end.

beautiful...so poignant and delicate and then ass kicking. She did an amazing job. Was this remote - as in, she recorded in LA and sent an audio file to you, which you mixed in? Sounds gorgeous - I love it.

Thanks! Glad you like it. It's about the dichotomy of despair and rage that happens during heartbreak. (not really about orcs like Mike suggested) ;)

the virtual orchestra's lack of natural sustain is only noticeable because of the great phrasing of the real instruments
