Question to all my friends

Jun 30, 2010 11:27

I was recently pondering the fact that I have over 500 people on my facebook friends list, and only 3 or 4 of them have actually bought a soundscape from me. I can't help but wonder why. Thus, this poll! It would really help me out if you would take a minute to answer this honestly. If you are one of the few who have bought a soundscape or two, ( Read more... )

First off: miss you.

I ticked "I'm not a gamer" for the purposes of your poll because (with the exception of the SL launch party) I haven't played D&D in almost 10 years and thus, don't have a use for them at present.

I was glad to hear about your plans to release a CD, and I planned to buy one, of course (just like I'm waiting for SA CD #2).

Money may also be an issue for some. I don't think $2.99 a pop is too much to ask for each download, but luxury income is still down a bit for everyone. In fact, I just got paid today and did the bills. Now, I must figure a way for $139 to last 2 weeks, considering that it's time to stock up on cat food and litter.

Good luck, and I hope to see you soon.

I checked "it never really occured to me to buy one," because it's the most accurate; however, the *reason* it never occured to me to buy one is because I don't game anymore; even when I did game, none of my GMs ever used music to set the mood. Although now I kind of wish they had, because it would have added a wonderful, deeper dimension to the game.

This seems to be the main reason people haven't been buying them. I haven't stressed enough that they are NOT, by any means, just for gamers! Many of them are just plain fun to listen to, and others are perfect for meditation or yoga. There's rock, goth, film-score style and even renaissance and Celtic stuff that non-gamers would enjoy. I need to shift my marketing tactics, methinks. :)

Back when I was just a little witch, my coven used to do unguided visualizations to "new age" music. I've been wanting to get back into that - it's great exercise for the brain - so when I have a few extra bucks, you'll have a new customer. :) I do think you need to expand your focus to include non-gamers, though, definitely. <3 you!

This.

I kind of *know* this, because I've listened to some of the stuff on the site, and I know I like it. I'm having an Irish Spring commercial moment ("strong enough for him, but she likes it too"). Gamer looking for his Sonic Legends CD. "Honey...have you seen my Sonic Legends CD?" "Oh yeah, I borrowed it..." "What?!? You don't game!" *shrug/smile* "so?"

If I bought music from all my composer friends, I'd go broke.

i selected 'other' because since your business has been up, i have been unemployed- meaning thoroughly broke. Also, i'm not currently in a tabletop game, and while i plead with my LARP co-Staff to have music incorporated, they're just not interested in the logistics of setting up more things for games.

i do try to pimp SL out to people tho, i talk it up when games arise in conversation and whenever i feel there is a chance to put it out there that my talented friend has this awesome service.
