Ain't got no man boss

Jul 15, 2009 13:53

Two unrelated people in unrelated incidents came in today, looking for the man who must be my boss.

I do work with men!

None of them are my boss!

Gee and on the East Coast we always are told about how liberal people in Washington are. You seem to be inundated with assholes on a regular basis.

I don't know why this happens to me, but I'm convinced it has something to do with *me* specifically. Like, maybe I'm too short. Or too service-focused while I'm working. I don't know!

Anyway, even though these two incidents irritated the shit out of me, I have to keep in perspective that they were only two out of about 150 transactions I completed today, and only two out of 400-500 transactions I personally conduct per week. So I guess I'm not doing so bad, if you look at it that way!

Seems to me, that when you write about these incidents its someone trying to sell your business something, which leads me back to thinking they must be asshats. Yanno ass/um/ing and all. The only time I'm likely to make a mistake like this would be in regard to age not sex. In a retail setting, I'm inclined to believe that anyone over 25 must be in management.

My young (early 30's), tall, attractive, executive looking boss gets the same thing all the time too.

We both take joy in pointing out that no, the old man ISN'T the owner of the store, Its Brindy! And she knows her shit.

My boss is in her early forties, looks like she's in her late thirties at the most. Her 2IC is man in his mid-fifties.

People outside the organisation think he's her boss ALL THE TIME. -_-

I can see having a pretty clear idea whether the incidents were related, but what did you know about the people's family trees?

Just kidding.

Seriously, though, quite obnoxious. I have a similar problem with apparent age; because I look significantly younger than I am, a lot of people seem to think I don't know what I'm doing (as it happens, it's worse this time of year because it's generally too hot to wear a sportscoat or blazer).
