I sent this link to some other friends who don't live in our area. I am fiercely proud of you.

Thanks for catching this and making so many people aware of it. It's shameful that a program should actually lose funding as a result of a local talk radio's Laura Ingraham wannabe. Now, I'd love to know the mechanics of how the program in Skagit got cancelled, because irresponsible reporting is one thing but that seems like a bit too long of a jump...

What I was told was that the person in charge at Worksource told the program director at Oasis that it was because KGMI's morning show gave them "the worst PR they've had in 40 years."

Later, she said the story was changed to "ran out of funding." But the director said to me that this made no sense because the program had only just gotten started, and that it was worksource who had hired and placed all the people in the program necessary to make it go. She did not believe that it was due to lack of funding and because I don't understand the allocation of pools of funds and their purposes, I can't explain it much more than that except to say that there are apparently more sources than just the ARRA for the program.

I called the program director myself and got this info from her directly, being very careful to clarify that yes, she was told that it was because of the show, and yes, this was confirmed with me.
