I spent yesterday harvesting olives in an olive grove near Jenin. I'd expected it to feel really uncomfortable and to emphasize to me how little I'm able to do, but it wasn't that way. oooh i feel your pain on the hebrew speaking vs hearing thing. i havent been in israel in a good 4 years, and while i can still understand israelis when they speak to me, my response time is *way* down and i can never tihnk of the right words at that moment, even though i would understand them if i heard them. it's obnoxious.

yeah, it really just sucks. i can understand almost anything (though if i space out or there's background noise, i'm lost), but finding the words just doesn't work for me at all. yesterday i couldn't find the word "sabba" and ended up having to say "ha'abba shel ha'abba sheli" now, that's the extreme, it's not usually THAT bad but really...yeah. i suck. but my new plan is to not speak to israelis in english even though they can all understand me, and hope my mind gets used to it.

It's also crazy how much israelis want to speak english. They're all so eager to practice their language skills on americans, and the americans are just tryin to get used to speaking hebrew...

That sounds great. I think it's cool how Omer and Kfir do that all the time.

I miss knowing Hebrew.
