Some outside the house updates, in pictures. The Dahlias make me think of Dahlia the dog every time!
I'll be finishing this project up tomorrow. Can't be in the sun too long without a migraine (which I got today, oops). I pulled up the old weed block and figure I'll just pull the grass from now on, it wasn't doing a good job of blocking anyways! It looks messy but it will be back to normal tomorrow. Oh, we're also going to be pulling up the dead bushes at either end of this bed, hence the other reason we needed to pull up the blocker. I'd like to plant something new there next Spring.
The Dahlia at the other end (you can see the dead bush behind it sort of).
You can see the Polianthes in this and how the front looks. I'll be pulling the weed mat from there tomorrow, weeding and making sure everybody has some fertilzer and maybe a little more bark. There is one of the most massive weeds ever in the Polis! It's not crowding them so I've been lazy about it...
I finally potted these two. They were anniversary gifts. I sort of let the purple one die a bit :X Oops! Hopefully it will grow back happy now that it's potted. I'll probably leave them for the winter (in the garage of course) and plant them somewhere next Spring.
Our first Japanese Maple. I love it! It's leaves are turning gold/red in preparation for it's red Fall color.
When we first got it. I still need to find some curbing (hopefully premade that someone doesn't want anymore) and use that for a border. Maybe I'll find something cute while we're out looking today.
It was a weird time of day, the colors are off.
More true to the color.
The Polianthes last week, you can see the massive weed makes it look like the moon staked thing is interfering with one of the flowers, but it's not.
The mystery shrub before today.
What it will look like when I finish tomorrow, sans dead bush stump.
And that's the status of our yard and everything interesting we've done so far :). I'm planning to build at least one more bed for next Spring, as well as more elaborate plans for the two front beds (the Dahlias and Polis were just temporary solutions to have something pretty there for the summer. Who knows! I may end up liking them well enough to keep them, but I'd definitely like to add some variety.
Sorry for such a boring entry, hehe.
