"...such brave work this night. Hush, now." She ... fixed a flashing eye on her husband, and on Norrington. "You two will be silent, if you please!"
Cheers for Juana! But then, you made her of stern stuff, so of course she'd be able to take both her husband and Norrington in hand with no qualms. And Owens ... he, too, continues to be wonderful - trying to shield Tom from knowledge of what the lantern's presence revealed.

Juana gasped to see Jack, looking even more wonderfully piratical than he had of old.
And who wouldn't? (especially when he looks so good) Lucia's first glimpse provides a lovely opportunity for some truly excellent Jack-description. Marriage and a valet have made him less scruffy, but certainly not dulled the impact!

He took her hand, and kissed it, reverently. “I do see. And how glad I am that Don Alejandro has proven worthy of his treasure. It is well.”Oh, I am such a sap! Sitting here quite literally sniffling along with Juana ( ... )

I'm so happy you found so much to enjoy in this chapter, except perhaps the requisite cliffhanger. Poor Owens. Originally I had intended to write more about the subsequent action on the ship, in which his life hangs in the balance. I'm sure it would have been most affecting, but had to chuck it in the interest of chapter length, and just getting on with things.

Augh, you'd better not kill Owens!!!! I'm so glad Jack wasn't angry with Tom (or Owens); he's right, it was a difficult spot and a thoughtful choice is the best that can be expected.

I, for one, am very glad to 'see' Jack in his full pirate regalia again! He's right about being sore from the ride, though - fifty miles is enough to wipe out even the most seasoned rider, poor Jack!

Okay, reading on, I have to find out what happens to Owens!

I do love those cliffhangers. You're fortunate in that you were able to move right on to the next chapter -- my other poor readers were often left hanging for days, or even weeks when I was writing these.

Yes, Jack spent far too much time in disguise during the course of this story.

With X-Files I quit reading WIP because it got too frustrating to be left hanging, oftentimes when the story was never completed. Over the years I've relaxed a bit, mainly because of the slim pickings at other fandoms I was involved in, but I still tend to shy away from WIP given the option. However, it helps a lot when there's an author with an established track record of finishing a story. :-)

I try to be diligent about getting stories completed, but there are several really good authors of PotC!fic that are not, much to my (and everyone's!) frustration. I figure even if one reader is hanging in there I have an obligation to wind up the story in a timely manner.
