Holy shit that apartment is so not worth that much money. The market must be full of insane people if they can actually get that much for it.

I just did a superquick CL search and the vast majority of LES studios are under 1800. It's a big ripoff. I think you could move into a 1bdrm in a street you like better for that price.

Do you think one of the reasons you haven't finished unpacking yet is because deep down you don't really like the place?

I am in the Moglen lecture and I am dying. My 7th straight hour of class. This fucking sucks, plus, he's crazy.

Without knowing anything about NYC housing prices: it seems like a 20% rent hike is greater than the market price could have appreciated over the last year. I'd do some research, figure out what the going rate is, negotiate and move out if he doesn't budge.

On July 1st my landlord wants to raise my rent from 1775 to 2150. I have a fair sized studio in a slightly trashy building on Bowery and Rivington. What should I do?

Leave NYC. Or move to another burrough. Seriously, is all of NYC that price? Thats twice San Francisco.

P.S. I've heard good things about the Bronx.

i wanna change my vote. negotiate. i loved your apartment though, but perhaps proximity to 11 spring is the wrong measure to be using.
