Ok, so I'm an English minor. And even being an English minor (note that it's minor and not major!), certain things are expected of you, such as having a standard when choosing recreational reading material. You know what I mean: NY times best seller list, Pulitzer prize winning authors, the good old Austen and Bronte sisters, etc. etc. And if

Guilty pleasures...
Mine is not only smutty hhr fics (I mean, I even write those).
My guilty pleasure is almost unspeakable.... My guilty pleasure is Anne Rice.
I know! She's actually not a good writer, but she has some characters... oh dear! Don't let me get started on Lestat or Louis or Armand... or the Mayfair witches. She's not a good writer, some of her plot lines are boring, and the ones which aren't, are just not properly written, but when it comes to loving the characters... I almost hate her, because of how much I love her characters!
That's a GUILTY pleasure, that one!

I will admit to having read a good portion of Anne Rice back in the days... lol. Although I think what put me off of Anne Rice for good was this one time when I was in Borders, and there were some books on sale, and one of them was titled "Sleeping Beauty, the retelling of etc.etc" and the author was Anne Rice. So I didn't really read the summary too closely because, I mean, I love fairy tales, and if the author is Anne Rice it couldn't be bad, right?
well...
I get home, get settled down, ready to read a good book with some milk and cookies, and the more I read, the more disturbed I became--somehow, it was a book about bondage.
I'd accidentally picked up on one of those erotic novels that Rice writes... I had no idea that she wrote erotic novels!!!! lol, not that I'm judging, but I've been afraid to read Anne Rice ever since.

The Sleeping Beauty ones... I've never read them (Good for me!), but I have a friend who has.... and even with the short description... oh dear!
I had no idea she wrote that kind of stuff either, but *rollseyes* if there is an author thick enough to think she doesn't need an editor, what can you expect?
