Roger won his first title of the season, and first title since October 2008, and first Masters series since 2007, on 17 May, 2009, defeating Rafael Nadal 6-4, 6-4 at the Madrid Open. A momentous victory. Made me very happy. Sometimes I still cannot believe it happened.
In commemoration of Roger's victory, here's a picspam.

I know right? The first thing I thought when I saw the pictures was: "Not another bloody plate!" XD
But a girl can dream, no? A girl can dream.
Yeah *sighs*. Beating Nadal in 5 sets on clay would be so difficult although Rog did nearly do it in Rome 3 years ago. UGH I still have bad memories from that morning.

Haha I didn't watch that (in)famous Rome match; wasn't a fan then. And I don't watch matches that he lost so I won't ever watch it. Hehe Roger could beat him in straight sets again. HAHA! Talk about dreaming. :P

LOL the past four gs finals, the only one I didn't watch live was the USO, and he won that. It's quite depressing actually XD

Loved the pictures, couldn't watch the dishware-giving ceremony so the confetti pics were a laugh. xDD *sigh* I've still got a goofed up grin on my face ahahah...

The moment the confetti went off and they both jumped was really cute. It's on YouTube somewhere I'm sure. I'm also totally smiling about it. I've been in an uncharacteristically good mood the past two days! :D Yay Roger.

Haha, yeah, I guess I'll be riding on this little wave of happiness 'til the RG draws come out. ;P Wahay~!

Can't wait for the RG draw! Hope Roger gets a good one. Hope he gets Murray in his half. I don't think Murray's gonna make it past the QF, and even if he reaches the SF to meet Roger, I'm sure Roger will wallop his ass. It'd be about high time. I can't wait to see Roger school Murray (I hate Murray if it's not obvious enough haha).

AND THE PLATE! IKR?! I bet he was like, "wtf i have enough of these fuckers already". :'D
6. Became the first man ever to beat Nadal twice on clay
I thought this was the case, too, but apparently Gaston Gaudio's done it three times - 2003, 2004 and 2005 according to the ATP site. Roger is the only player to have done it during Nadal's dominating years, though, so yay for that. :D
And 10. God, 10. I keep saying to myself that Nadal is still the heavy favourite (which I don't mind at all, it might help Roger play more relaxed), Roger doesn't have a chance at all, but I CAN'T HELP THINKING ABOUT IT skjgaksjg I mean. Wouldn't it be the most amazing thing ever if Roger equalled Pete's record at RG and broke it at Wimbledon? ;A;

Yeah man, after like 5 (? 3 FO, 1 Wim =(, 1 AO =() GS plates, I'm sure he really needs another plate! How cheap is it to give a PLATE as the champion trophy right? Stupid Ion whatshisface. He and Santana looked totally pissed that it was Roger holding their ugly plate, not their darling Rafa.
Oh really? Meh, my commentator said Roger is the first person to ever beat Nadal twice on clay. Maybe he meant during Nadal's dominating years though, but he could've made that clearer!
YES IT WOULD. IT SO WOULD. It'd be SO fitting and full of awesome and wonderful, I wouldn't know what to do with myself. And imagine him beating Nadal while breaking the record at Wimbledon, wrestling HIS Wimbledon back and writing history...AHH! Tears are welling in my eyes just thinking about it. Yes, I desperately need a life.
