Antique Bakery: A Gay of Demonic Charm (Part 1)

After days of searching and consulting with the builders, Seung Hyun decided on a shop located in a quiet neighbourhood at the heart of the big city. It had a very sophisticated and elegant feel to it. Stained windows and dark wood covering the outside added a vintage effect. He called it the “Antique Bakery”.

The next morning Seung Hyun as well as several cleaners pitched in to clear the area out for the new furniture. His mother and grandmother had picked some shades of beige and browns for the walls as well as some mahogany tables. The carpenters and the movers had already started to work on the inside before the final arrangements were decided.

Some days before, Seung Hyun had put up some advertisements asking for employees at the bakery. He talked to some of his friends about a possible chef suggestion, but they didn’t know of any that met his high expectations. This worried him a bit; he wanted the bakery to be a success but without a good chef, he couldn’t complete his goal. The only reason he even bothered to start a cake shop. Seung Hyun had to be efficacious.

As he was fixing a painting on the wall, he heard a meek,

“Hello?”

He turned around slightly only to look at a man about his age with a gentle smile on his face. He had long dark brown hair that reached the end of his slender neck. There were hazel eyes that were framed with black glasses and thin lips with a frail figure. He was wearing a long black trench coat with some matching pants that lined his perfect legs. Before starting again, he bowed,

“Nice to meet you, I’m Kwon Ji Yong”.

In a matter of seconds, he smashed the cake right into Ji Yong’s face and spat some saliva before leaving him on the roof top.

Seung Hyun hadn’t noticed the painting falling out of his grip as he made an immediate catch in a glimpse. He was so lost on the little flash back that he had before, this Kwon Ji Yong looked so familiar to him.

“Um, I’m here to apply for the chef” he said, coming closer to Seung Hyun as the locks of his hair bounced in the motion.

“Ah, yes, Choi Seung Hyun, nice to meet you” he introduced, talking the other’s hand and shaking it a bit. “This way” he lead, “let’s seat down, shall we?” Seung Hyun finished before both took sat down.

“Call me Ji Yong, here is my resume” the man said, handing the other some sheets of paper folded nicely into three columns. Seung Hyun took it from his hands and began to flip and turn the pages over, his eyes scanning the information that were presented.

“You have quite the resume” he said after a few minutes, crossing his leg while he was sitting on a wooden stool. Ji Yong smiled, letting out a breath of laughter,

“I just happen to pass by some places” he said as his delicate fingers swept his bangs away from his eyes. Seung Hyun couldn’t lie; this man was very impressing.

“No need to even mention Paris, but Wien, Cookie Mori, Garu...you have gone through all the top shops in Korea” he said, seemingly enthralled.  “People call you a legend in this field” he added.

“That’s a bit of a stretch” Ji Yong defended, trying to preserve all the compliments. “I just ended up going through some shops..” he said, giving a admirable smirk.

“That, I can see” Seung Hyun said, his voice calm and collected as it was. He met Ji Yong’s eyes before beginning again, “Fired within a year in each, right?” he asked, still composed.

Ji Yong’s smile was wiped away with that comment as he hesitated and sat up, “Oh yes...”

“There was a brawl between the Wien employees” Seung Hyun commenced as he eyed the other, “because of you” he finished. Ji Yong heaved a sigh, looking away from their contact. “A suicide attempt at Cookie Mori, because of you” he said again. “A wife at Garu ran with a knife, because the owner cheated on her....with you” Seung Hyun challenged. The other man cringed at that, closing his eyes at the shame.

“But you don’t need to worry about that, it’ll just be you and I for now” Seung Hyun said, trying to sound assure before laughing lightly.

“Actually, that’s what worries me...I was so startled to when I saw you” Ji Yong said shyly, blushing a subtle pink. “Because you are so my type” he concluded, batting his eyes at the other man. When he first saw Seung Hyun, his heart had started racing within seconds. His firm structure and the dark deep eyes had Ji Yong falling head over heels right away.

The other man scoffed before he said, “was this how you did it?” he asked, annoyed. “Throwing yourself at anyone you see?” Seung Hyun interrogated.

“Throw myself?” Ji Yong argued awkwardly, “I have never made a move on anyone at work” he said honestly. “It’s just that, they all suddenly become infatuated with me. Really, it’s not up to them if they like me or not” he supplemented. Hesitating, he started, “All right, please don’t laugh...I’m the Gay of Demonic Charm” he stated in the most innocent voice possible.

Seung Hyun paused after hearing what he had just said, uncomfortably looking at the other. Sometime later, he ducked his head and shuffled around the small furniture before laughing wildly. His hands flew against his stomach as he arched back enough to fall with the chair. Ji Yong pouted with a confused look in his face. “I’m serious” he said as Seung Hyun straightened himself up.

“A Gay of Demonic Charm? With that dumb look or your face? Thanks for the laugh!” he mused, stifling out another laughter.

Ji Yong rolled his eyes before removing his glasses and standing up. “Never mind then” he said as he charged out the door with a displeased look.

“Ah, wait, I didn’t mean anything!” Seung Hyun called out, catching up to the other and grabbing his wrist.

“Could you please let go?” he asked, irritated. The other man sighed,

“If you’re really the “Gay of Demonic Charm”, show me” he simply said trying to make some peace. Ji Yong grinned before leaning up to his ears,

“Come to the club at the beginning of this street at 8 and I will” he whispered before leaving the shop.

Before he even realised, Seung Hyun was blushing furiously and seriously regretting his decision to hire Kwon Ji Yong.
