Chapter five

When Ji Yong woke up next morning to the sound of his alarm clock, Seung Hyun was nowhere to be seen. Maybe my wish came true? He thought to himself as he started to get ready for the school day. Ji Yong had a good thirty-minute before the bell rang for first period. Yesterday during his detention, he was so confused with the math homework, he didn’t finish it. Ji Yong slightly bit his lower lip thinking about the punishment he might receive when the professor received the uncompleted homework. Seoul Academy had high standards, only people with money and brains were given permission to study here. Although, Ji Yong was rich, he couldn’t help but feel a little stupid around his competitive classmates and so far he didn’t manage to make any friends.

Ji Yong took out the extra set of uniforms that he his parents had bought at the beginning of the semester, his muddy uniform from yesterday were still piled up the corner of the ground. He took a mental note to visit the academy Laundromat during lunch.

Quickly brushing his teeth and fixing his hair, Ji Yong headed for the cafeteria to grab a short breakfast. He was never a fan eating since small which explains the thin figure he had. Though he was considerably good at cooking, Ji Yong had a very petite appetite. As he took his place in line, he noticed Seung Hyun with his obnoxious group. Ji Yong glared a bit when Seung Hyun briefly met his eyes.

“What would you like?” the lunch lady asked.

“Um...may I have just white milk and a cereal bar?” Ji Yong asked fishing out his wallet from his black back pack. After handing her the money, Ji Yong pried open the flaps of the milk carton and slowly sipped the white drink. Walking pass Seung Hyun’s table, he headed for Chemistry upstairs. Chewing the cereal bar and taking casual chugs of the milk, Ji Yong waited for the bell to ring and hoped for a good day.

On the other hand, Seung Hyun was talking to Yong Bae about his odd feelings from Ji Yong. “Seriously man, feels like my stomach is doing this 360 spin over and over...shet...” he said to Yong Bae.

“Seems like someone has ‘feelings’ for Kwon” Yong Bae grinned.

“Who?Who?” Seung Ri and Dae Sung said in unison and Seung Hyun slapped them both in their heads.

“No way in hell, dude...psshh....” Seung Hyun said trying to think of another reason.

“Yeah...whatever...wanna skip...” Yong Bae said as he stood up from the chair. Seung Hyun simply nodded still thinking about last night. Even this morning, when he had woken up, the older just simply stared at the smaller boy for what seemed like ages before he realized how wrong it was. Not to mention this morning, Seung Hyun almost lost it when Ji Yong had come in the cafeteria with the lightly tousled hair in a sleepy manor. In his eyes, the younger looked somewhat heavenly and brighter than anyone in his sight.

“Where do you wanna go?” Seung Hyun asked finishing up the last of the kimichi soup and rich he got for breakfast. He liked to eat so much, but the only family that he had was the sister from his orphanage, so Seung Hyun didn’t have much pocket money. Seung Hyun’s parents died in car crash when he was just four and since then he was in the care of sister Ae-cha one of whom who runs the little orphanage. All of his educational fees were paid from scholar ships and awards he won. He was very grateful to sister Ae-cha because of all things the women had to put up with him growing up. Seung Hyun had been a naughty child as a child and he is still troublesome today. He thought about stopping but what can he do people literally ask for problems, they just pissed him off.

“Let’s just go to the nearby park or something...” Yong Bae replied as he too took the last bite from the pancakes he had for breakfast. Dae Sung and Seung Ri were had completed their food and waited for their hyungs.

Four of them quietly headed for the side entrance after the bell rang for the classes to begin. Each of them jumped of the tall fence and walked to the park close to school. Upon reaching their destination, Seung Hyun sat on the swing slightly rocking it forward and backward. His thoughts had once again drifted off to Ji Yong.

“Do you want to embarrass further more Mr. Kwon? This is just review from lessons that are done in the previous grade, yet you are able to get every single of the question wrong! In your first day, you get a detention and now unfinished and wrong homework?! “ the professor shouted at Ji Yong who had his head facing in the ground. The whole class laughed, “Quiet! Mr. Kwon come meet me during lunch” the professor snapped back and waved Ji Yong to go to take a sit. The smaller boy’s cheeks were flushed from the embarrassment as he took his seat. He felt like running out of the classroom and crying his eyes out. Ji Yong slightly chocked up a tear as it slid down his cheeks and dropped in the piece of paper with several read crosses making it wet.

“Class, when you know you have done something wrong, it is pointless to cry over it, right Mr. Kwon?” the professor said as he came near Ji Yong’s desk. The class laughed again, “Yes seonsaengnim” they said together and went back to work. Ji Yong wiped the tears that were coming out, he wanted nothing more to stay strong but his heart quivered in pain.

Lunch came by slower than he expected. Ji Yong dragged himself to his room to fetch the muddy uniform set and hopefully get them cleaned. When he reached his door, Ji Yong listened carefully any particular presence in the dorm. It sounded quite as he slowly opened the door, expecting Seung Hyun. To his surprise, the older wasn’t there yet there was a neat and clean uniform sitting on his desk with the note on the top. Ji Yong went closer and noticed it was the uniform he had ruined yesterday. He gently picked up the note, it said:

Sorry, okay! Geez, why do you have to spazz?

By the way, just cause I washed this doesn’t mean I’m gonna go all nice, got it?
