I had initially given up on Sailor Moon Crystal after the first four or five episodes because the art was so shitty-like distractingly shitty to the point that it was hard to concentrate on plot or dialogue because you just had to stare at the struggle animation

I still need to watch this incarnation... how does it compare to the original on plot to filler ratio? Ilu Sailor Moon, but you really dragged things out sometimes (especially the last two seasons... really wish they'd stuck closer to the manga there tbh)

Plot/filler-wise it's really good! Because it follows the manga pretty closely it's pretty plot dense which is great, though that was also the weak point in the manga in that there was little time for character development esp. for minor characters. It definitely feels faster paced and sometimes the Senshi kill monsters on their own without Sailor Moon needing to deliver the Final Blow which is refreshing. I just really found the art so terrible in the beginning that I was put off but it's definitely better now, though I still prefer the original art-wise.

Yeah they improved the art A LOT. Changing the transformations to 2d helped them so much and I'm glad the old character designer is gone because the new one is much better at understanding how to draw appealing magical girls then the old one

Oh and also- points to this season and it's director for bring back the comedy and actually giving the senshi fucking PERSONALITIES again. The first 2 seaons the girls felt so hollow and all the inners felt interchangeable, it's nice to see them have some life in them again.
