Chinen was exhausted. He just got home from their Photo Shoot and he still doesn’t know what to do since he was bombarded of assignments and projects which he didn’t finish because of his hectic schedule. But Yamada, his boyfriend, added a pain in his heart because he and Yuma went together in Shibuya even though it’s Valentine’s Day. Yes, he is jealous, jealous enough that he can’t concentrate in his assignments. When he decided to go out and walk around in their subdivision, so he can calm himself, a teenage girl came in front of him. Lately, Yamada became colder to him and sweeter to Nakayama. And that’s what hurts him most. It seems that Ryosuke already forgot him. That’s he think…
“Ahhmmm… Chinen Yuri-kun… Inoue Sakura desu. Yoroshiku onegaishimasu.” She shyly introduced herself. “Ah, Chinen-kun, please accept this.” She handed a box of chocolate to him. “ Ah, Happy Valentines… Suki da!” after saying those words, she ran.
“Suki?” he opened the letter in the box. “Ahhmm…” he read the letter, “Chinen kun, watashi wa Inoue Sakura desu. Juuyon sai desu. Yoroshiku onegaishimasu! Anata wa atashi no ichiban desu… Soshite, watashi wa anata ni Aishiteru yo.” He continued reading the letter. “I’m amazed at you. You’re a teen idol, you’re singer, actor. But still you can focus in your studies. By the way, I’m studying at Horikoshi High too! I’m from Class 2-A… but not in the building were you, idols at. I’m at the building were rich people are staying. I wish after reading this, you can communicate with me. If ever you want to talk with me, even though there’s a very small possibility, you can contact the number in the bottom part of this letter. Jya, Chinen kun, matteru kara na.” he look at the bottom part and saved her number. “At least, someone still loves me, even though I can’t feel the presence of Valentine because of Ryo-chan.” He sobbed. His tears fell down from his cheeks as he whisphered ‘Ryo-chan’ again and again.
The next morning, Yuri entered their room, and sat in his table. “Ryo-chan,” he tried to catch his attention from sleeping.
“Ah? Naze ka?” He asked.
“Ryo-chan, can we go out tonight?” He asked.
“Where? Tonight?”
“What about a cozy coffee shop?”
“Sorry Chii, I still didn’t do our project so I’m gonna do that tonight. Maybe next time.”
“But you can still do that tomorrow! We can still pass our project next week!”
“Gomen na. But I already promised Yuma that I will go with him to exchange the iPod he bought yesterday. It was broken.”
“Again with Yuma?” Yuri weakly said.
“Hai. Hontou ni gomen na.”
“Daijobu dayo.”
After class he decided to walk a bit in the park. While he’s walking, he saw Sakura with her friends. He didn’t know why, but he went straight to Sakura…
“Inoue Sakura, desho?” he asked Sakura who is so tensed since Chinen Yuri talked to her. Her friends are envying her because they like Chinen too and of course, Chinen is an actor and he talked to Sakura! Other people around them are looking to Sakura too.
“Hai, doushite Chinen Yuri kun?”
“Thanks for the chocolate it tastes good.” He smiled.
“Do itashimashite.” She shyly told her.
“Why are you so tensed?” he smiled. “Want to go to a coffee shop?”
“Nani?” she gasped.
“Wanna go with me?”
“Oh sure.” She smiled… they went to a coffee shop together. While they are in the coffee shop they both ordered a cream macchiato.
“Ahhmm… Chinen kun…” she attempted to talk.
“Sakura-chan… can I call you that way?” he asked.
“Sure.”
“You can call me Yuri.”
“Huh? Are you sure?”
“Of course.”
“Yuri-kun?”
“Hmmh?”
“Thank you.”
“For what?”
“For asking me to go here… for letting me to call you Yuri…”
“Oh… is that so?” he looked at her. “Thank you for giving me that chocolate and letter. Do you know how it made me happy? So we’re friends?”
“Mochiron.” They both enjoyed the whole afternoon. Days and months passed since they became friends. They get along together. She made him feel the bliss… She made him back to who he is. She is the one that made him feel that he’s important. She is the only one that made him think why he exists in this world… This stupid world which always make him feel the pain…
They decided to study together at Chinen’s apartment while Chinen is still not happy about the relationship of Ryosuke and him. While they are studying, Chinen looked at her, and decided to tell Sakura about him and Ryosuke. He can’t forgive himself that the fact that he just made Sakura a substitute every time that Ryosuke didn’t have time for him… to make him feel better… but he’s afraid that he’s falling now for her… he’s afraid that what if she will know about him and Ryosuke? But he decided to tell it… so that even anything will happen he will not regret it.
“Do you know about me and Ryosuke?” Chinen asked.
“What about you? About your special relationship? Shounen ai? If it’s about it, I already knew that from the start.” He was shocked about the answer of Sakura.
“Eh?” she knew… that was the thing that Chinen is thinking.
“I liked you so much up to the point that I already stalked you. At first, of course I felt bad, shocked… about your relationship. To be honest actually it came to the point that I almost gave up loving you. But here I am… still can’t stop that infatuation, admiration, affection… or anything anyone wants to call it… Yuri, I really like you… if it’s just a fandom, I would surely stop it. I would be so discourage and will not face you that night.” She confessed… “That night, I know that you are so sad… that’s why I faced my fear and took all the guts I hid and faced you. I know that you just make friends with me because of that agony. But I did not regret what I did. Even I think that you just used me.”
“And you’re not angry?”
“Am not… But of course, I feel bad. But I like the fact that because of me… you can restore that smile in your face. That is the most important to me.” Sakura just said. Hiding the pain and stopping her tears from falling. “The most important is I can make happy the most important person to me. Don’t worry Yuri, Yamada-kun will realize how important you are to him. And~” her lips was covered by the lips of Chinen who can’t say anything. After a moment, he finally released her lips from his.
“Thank you… You’re the only one that made me smile. You are the only one that~” he didn’t finish what he said when he heard a voice.
“Chii… What have you--- done?” Ryosuke asked, stunned. Sakura was so shocked and ran outside. “Tell me Chii, why are you… cheating on me?”
“Sheesh…” Chinen boastfully looked at him. He smiled, saying, “Cheating on you? Oh… Sorry for that Yamada-san. At first really I didn’t mean to do this but… you made me do this.” He walked away.
“What? YAMADA-SAN? Eh? And I made him DO THIS? WHAT THE HECK~! OI CHINEN~!” he walked straight to Chinen. “Seriously, what do you really mean?”
“I am a fool. To love you. I don’t care if it’s just a misunderstanding but… I risked almost everything for this relationship. I almost gave up my career for this. And so do you. I can tolerate all. But even forget our anniversary? That’s ridiculous~! You know I love you. But I don’t know if you do love me. Or…”
“Or?”
“If you loved me. Or still love me. Jya… Ryo-chan, what am I to you?”
“Yuri? What’s happening to you? You know how I loved you!”
“Ha… now I know. You LOVED me. But at least thanks… for loving me for almost three years.”
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to forget our anniversary. But when is that again?”
“Valentine’s day. And do you remember what you did that time?”
“I was out… with Yuma.” He said. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to forget it. But it’s not the case right now, I loved you… and until now I love you and I will love you.”
“Am I that stupid to you? Ryo-chan?” Chinen cried. “I tried to understand you all this time… and of course I knew how hard our forbidden relationship is. Lately, I often cry… but thanks to Sakura-chan, she is the only one that made me smile in those times I am troubled. Those times when you are with Yuma…” his tears rolled on his cheeks. “And now, you want me to believe you that you still love me and will still love me.? Do you know how much pain I suffered?” He paused. After a short time of silence, “You know…Sakura-chan too, suffers. She knows about our forbidden relationship. She likes me very much… but still, she kept that secret… and still encouraging me, and even praying that our relationship will stay longer. But, how can our relationship stay longer?! “Do you… already like that Sakura, Chii?” Yamada asked.
Chinen didn’t say a word.
“To be honest, I love you… but not the same as I do before. I am sorry but now, I realized that even if we both like each other, in this state… We can’t stay together any longer.” Yamada said.
Chinen smiled, looking at him… “So that’s it?” He hugged the other boy and kissed his cheek. “Don’t forget… that I love you.” He waved goodbye.
After 5 years…
Yamada and Chinen were taking a shoot together. After the shoot, Chinen said goodbye to the staffs and to his best friend, Yamada. While on the way, he bought a bouquet of purple roses and went directly to a pavilion in the center of a beautiful garden.
“Happy Birthday, Sakura-chan!” Chinen greeted the lady who was sitting on the chair.
“Yuri-kun! Why am I here? Are these all of your doings?” Sakura asked.
“Aish… yep!” He gave the flowers to Sakura and kneeled in front of her. “Sakura-chan, I waited for already 3 years… now, I just want to ask…if can you be my girl friend?”
Sakura smiled and nod. “This is the best gift ever, Yuri-kun.”
