It was another boring day to Ninomiya Kazunari.
As the only heir of Ninomiya Group, it was obvious that he lived a very luxurious life, going around as he like, playing around as much as he wanted, and no one would dare stop him from having his fun. He could get everything he wanted because he had money to pay for it, making everyone jealous at him. Thanks to this though, he had no friends except for his butler Ohno Satoshi and his childhood friend, Sakurai Sho, another rich boy with a very fierce temper.
Nino sighed.
At times, it was fun having so much money to spend when you want to fool around because Nino learned that money could make anyone do anything for him without asking much question. But when you were really bored with your life, even having lots of money wouldn’t help you.
Nino was thinking of going somewhere for a vacation so that he wouldn’t feel bored anymore when his butler, Ohno, came to him with a phone in his hand.
"Nino, there's a call for you. It's from Sho-kun."
Nino smiled at the sight of his butler. Ohno had been his caretaker ever since he was a child and thanks to that, Ohno acted very normally around him, or at least not like the usual master-butler relationship you saw in other people’s household. He considered Ohno his friend and he was glad to find that Ohno saw him as his friend too. Even Sho couldn’t get angry if there’s Ohno nearby. Ohno had this power to calm anyone, the trait that Nino liked thr most from him.
“Thanks, Satoshi.” He took the phone from Ohno’s hand and answered the call. “What is it, Sho-chan?”
“Nino!” The energetic voice of his live long friend greeted him. “Let’s go to the auction together!”
“Auction?”
“Yes, auction! I’ve heard from my father that today there will be an auction held at Tokyo Grand Hall and they are going to auction interesting things!”
“What kind of things?”
A long pause from the other person across the line and Nino was sure his friend was searching the info about the auction using his laptop. After five minutes, Sho’s voice could be heard once again on the phone.
“In the website, it is said that they would auction lots of things, from bag, hat, anything! It sounds interesting and I’m bored, so let’s go?”
Nino rolled his eyes. Sho didn’t even bother to search what other things are being auctioned. It was so typical his friend.
Ah well, he was bored too. Going to the auction would help him kill some time so that this boring day would end soon. Who knew what tomorrow would bring him?
“Okay then.” He finally said to his friend. “I’ll go with you.”
“Thanks, Nino! I’ll pick you up at 1, okay? Prepare yourself and don’t be late!”
With that final word, the line was cut. Nino shook his head. Sho was too hyper for his own good sometimes. Giving the phone back to Ohno, Nino got off from the sofa he was sitting on before and heading to his room.
“Satoshi,” He called for his butler when Ohno didn’t make any attempt to move from his spot. “Go prepare yourself too because you will go with me to the auction. I don’t want to go with Sho-chan only. He would definitely be too hyper and there should be someone who will stop me from murdering him for annoying me.”
Ohno chuckled. “I understand.”
Nino smiled as he climbed up the stairs to his room. Auction, huh? It sounds really fun.

He knew he should have expected this kind of thing from an auction, but oh please, couldn’t they make it a little bit prettier or something? The lamp was not even bright, the curtain was so dark it was depressing, and all around him people kept on muttering what to bet on in today’s auction like they had no life.
Maybe they didn’t, Nino concluded, when he saw some of them betting on a jacket with a very huge amount of money.
Nino had to repress the urge to roll his eyes and vomit. Sure, Nino was rich and liked spending money to get some fun but there was always purpose when he did spend his money. For instance, he paid the girls in the bars to have sex with him so he could get his need taken care of. Or like when he bought new games that he liked, games that could help him work his brain out. There was always purpose.
Not like this brainless people here who spent their money so freely as if it wouldn’t run out like water in the river, Nino thought to himself as an old man in the front seat bid on an old hat for 500.000 yen. That’s just simply stupid. No matter how much money that person had with him, it would soon run out because he kept on spending it away.
He felt a nudge on his right and turned to see Sho staring at him. His friend was grinning from ear to ear, apparently pleased about the auction. He had even bought a stupid looking feather costume for 50.000 yen which made Nino could only roll his eyes.
“Why are you just standing there silently, Nino?” Sho asked. Nino just glared, hoping that Sho could see the hint that he was not amused and he clearly didn’t want to participate in the stupid auction that’s why he stood silently, but of course, Sho never got his signal. Ohno, his butler, was also awed with the auction and even went as far as asking the host whether they have fish in today’s auction (the answer was no and Nino took that chance to mock his butler for his stupid question and Ohno just shrugged. “It won’t hurt to ask,” he said).
“You should buy something!” Sho insisted and Nino almost growled. Almost. Because the moment he was about to growl at Sho, the host claimed that the hat was sold for 750.000 yen to a nice looking woman at the right corner.
“Stupid people,” Nino muttered softly, mostly to himself. But it seemed like Sho heard it. And Sho decided to comment on it because Sakurai Sho commented on anything.
“They might look stupid to you, but they enjoy it. So why not?”
Having no comeback for that statement, Nino simply shrugged as he focused his eyes back to the stage. The host said that he had a very important announcement for the next item he’s going to auction and he got everyone’s attention with his words, even Nino got curious. The host went backstage to check on the item and the people in the auction room got even more excited seeing just how much care the host took for this item.
“What item do you think it is?” Sho asked excitedly.
“Who knows?” Nino answered simply, trying to make his voice as bored as he could. He didn’t want to appear too curious. Sho would take that chance to mock him for getting interested after saying that he’s initially not interested in the auction.
But it became impossible to stay bored when the host came back to the stage dragging something like a big cage toward the centre of the stage. He heard Ohno gasped beside him after seeing what the “item” was and Sho was actually silent for once. He himself had gaped when he saw the item the host was talking about.
Inside the cage was not a wild animal or another expensive material like everyone had expected the item to be. Inside it was a human, a man to be exact, his face blank, expressionless. The man was just sitting there motionlessly, staring at the crowd with dull eyes.
Nino felt something stabbed him at the chest looking at the man inside the cage. The man was beautiful, wearing all-white clothes from head to toe, looking like an innocent angel. He must be an angel because no human could look so beautiful yet so innocent at the same time.
Angel who had no wings, Nino mused.
“Human.” Sho finally spoke after a long pause. “They are auctioning human.”
Nino was actually shocked as well but he didn’t want to show that he was so he shrugged as casually as he could while keeping his eyes on the stage still, looking at the beautiful man inside the cage with interest.
“Let’s begin the auction!” The host exclaimed and the people cheered. They started bidding their prices for the newest item. The bidders went crazy by the prospect of having such a beautiful man for themselves they bid with everything they had.
It was ridiculous, Nino knew, to feel the burning anger surging within him as he saw the crazy bidder called their prices, wanting to own the man in the cage. He didn’t even know the man, he shouldn’t even feel any kind of attachment or sympathy toward him. But Nino did. And it drove him crazy thinking that he actually cared for someone besides Sho and Ohno, someone he saw just a few minutes ago, someone that he didn’t know at all.
“The highest bidder was Takajima-san, with 2 million yen!” The host claimed and Nino growled. 2 million!? To buy someone!? It was ridiculous!
“No one bid higher than Takajima-san?” The host called again and several people murmured their disappointment for not being able to take the man in the cage home with them. But 2 million was not a small amount and they could only admit defeat.
“No one? Then, I’ll start the countdown. Three!”
Nino didn’t want to feel any sympathy, he didn’t want to, but when he saw the man in the cage again, he couldn’t help but feel like he had to do something. He had to save the man and released him from this awful place, from people that would only torture him to death should they lay their hands on him, from everything that could hurt the beautiful man.
“Two!”
Nino knew this was ridiculous and definitely crazy of him but he just couldn’t help it. He had to save the man in the cage or he would feel guilty for not doing anything. He was bored anyway and he wanted to spend his money somewhere, why not using it for something good?
“Last count! O-“
“4 million yen.”
Nino’s calm voice reverberated through the whole room and the people grew silent, some gasping at disbelief at the amount of money that Nino was willing to spend for an item. Sho was gasping too and Ohno just stared at his master with wide eyes, still couldn’t believe himself that it was his master who said the words.
The host seemed shocked that there was another bidder who was crazy enough to spend 4 million yen on something. He gasped along with the other bidders and Nino grew impatient because the host didn’t immediately start the countdown.
“Well, you are not going to count it or anything?” Nino snapped and the host finally got back to his sense as he coughed heavily to cover his blunder for not immediately went to the next process after Nino made his bid. He started the countdown again and this time no one interrupted the host and the bid was closed with 4 million yen. Nino won the bid.
Nino thought he would feel good for saving someone from a nightmare that could scare them through the rest of their lives. He was helping the man after all. But when his eyes locked with the dark lifeless orbs of the beautiful man inside the cage, he knew that no matter what his reason was, he knew he could never be a hero. Buying someone to release him was not what a hero would do after all.
++++
Nino didn’t know what to feel when he paid for the “item” he had bought in today’s auction, whether he should be happy, elated, proud, or sick of himself for buying someone’s life using money. And Sho’s babble definitely didn’t help him at all (and at this time he was so thankful Ohno was usually quiet so he didn’t say anything to Nino).
“Nino, are you serious? You are buying human! What you are doing is illegal!”
Nino growled. Like I didn’t know, he wanted to spat at Sho but at that time he saw the host of the auction walked toward him with his “prize” that he had won in the auction followed behind him. The three friends froze in place when the host smiled at Nino and gave the man (now released from the cage) to Nino.
“Congratulations on winning this special item.” The host bowed and then left just like that.
Nino was speechless. He took a glance at his “prize” and saw that the man’s face was devoid of any emotion, and Nino somehow felt guilty for buying him. Though he had to admit that up-close, the man was beautiful. Beside him, Sho was gaping awkwardly at the man, apparently stunned by the beauty in front of him. Ohno was just standing silently there observing the whole situation with keen eyes.
Nino coughed and cleared his throat before he gave the man his warmest smile. “Hi. What’s your name?”
The man didn’t answer. He just stared at Nino blankly like he didn’t understand what Nino was saying at all. Nino began to get panic. What if this man didn’t know Japanese? What if he didn’t understand what Nino was saying at all?
He should know Japanese, Nino assured himself. The host wouldn’t be so stupid to sell someone who didn’t know anything, right?
So Nino tried once again to talk to the man. “Well, I’m Ninomiya Kazunari, and these two beside me are my friends, Sakurai Sho and Ohno Satoshi.”
The man was still silent and still staring at Nino like a statue and Nino’s anxiety grew. Did this man really not know any Japanese at all?
Sho nudged him (after he was done gaping at the man) and said, “Hey, Nino. It seems like he couldn’t talk.”
After being friends with Sho for more than 10 years, enduring all Sho’s nagging and advice (like Nino needed any advice), this was the first time he truly wanted to strangle Sho to death for stating something so obvious. Nino gave Sho a death glare and his friend stepped back a little, he knew not to mess with Nino when the latter was angry.
Ohno, always the savior, stepped between Nino and Sho. “Nino, let’s talk about this at home. You won’t want to make a scene at this place, not with so many people watching you.”
Nino was still glaring at Sho but he agreed with his butler. This was public place, he shouldn’t make a fuss or people would start gossiping, exactly the thing that he hated the most. Giving Ohno a signal to walk first, Nino turned to the man once again and reached out his hand to grab the man’s.
“Let’s go home.”

When Nino bought the man inside the cage (though he was released after Nino bought him) at the auction, he never had any intention to keep the man with him. He simply wanted to play as hero by buying the man and then released him shortly after. Now though, he knew that was impossible because the man refused to talk even after a week after the day Nino brought him home from the auction (Nino realized later that the man knew Japanese, because when Nino muttered he was thirsty the man was suddenly beside him giving him a glass of water and Nino was speechless to find that the man did understand his words). Nino didn’t even know the man’s name and it’s rude to call him “Hey!” all the time so Nino gave him a name, Jun.
Within a week he lived with Jun, Nino grew to like the man as how he like Ohno or Sho (if not even more but Nino threw that thought aside, for now). He considered Jun as his precious friend and treated him with care but Jun would always stay impassive, like he didn’t know what he should do with all the affection Nino showed him. Jun was always tense when Nino touched him so Nino tried to limit his contact with Jun until Jun was comfortable enough with him so was he kind of angry when he found Jun one day in the kitchen with Ohno, and letting himself to be touched by the butler all the time, whether it’s a casual pat on the head or a touch to his hand. Jun didn’t even flinched when Sho hugged him out of the blue, exclaiming how cute he was while by being silent all the time, even after Sho made him wear a mortifying nurse outfit (which looked good on Jun, Nino had to admit, but he wouldn’t dare to say it out loud).
Nino had said to himself that he had to be patient with Jun because Jun was still not used to him but he couldn’t suppress the hurt he felt when he saw Jun being all comfortable with Sho or Ohno but always tensed whenever Nino was near him. It’s frustrating. Wasn’t it him who bought him in the auction? Wasn’t it him who helped him get out of that stupid cage? So he should be attached to him rather than to Sho or Ohno!
But no matter what he did, Jun was always tense whenever he was near or stiffened when Nino tried to touch him. It’s kind of irritating him and Nino had enough.
He stomped out of his room to confront Jun (whose room was located on the second floor near Nino’s room) and opened the door to Jun’s room, ready to voice out his mind to Jun so that Jun would know Nino didn’t appreciate being ignored, and found the room empty. No sight of Jun inside the room and Nino wondered where Jun had gone. He vaguely remembered Sho telling him that he had a lesson with his economic teacher today at home so he couldn’t come to Nino’s house to visit Jun, so Jun wouldn’t be with Sho (Sho loved bringing Jun to go shopping with him and buying him horrible clothes that Jun didn’t even wear).
What about Ohno, then? Maybe Jun was with Ohno?
But today was Sunday and Sunday was Ohno’s free day to go fishing because Nino had granted him a day off so that his butler could go to the ocean to do the activity he loved the most. Nino remembered that Jun didn’t look impressed at all when Ohno asked him to go fishing with him next Sunday so Nino assumed that Jun wouldn’t be with Ohno today.
If Jun was not with Ohno or Sho, then where was he?
When Nino had been ready to go out of Jun’s room to search for Jun (he was afraid that something happened to Jun with no one to keep an eye at him) was when his sharp ears heard a sound from the direction of the bathroom in Jun’s room. Curious, Nino stepped inside the room to find out about the sound and realized it was just the sound of water running from the shower.
Maybe Jun was inside the bathroom? Nino was not sure so he knocked on the door but no one answered.
Nino frowned. He tried knocking again, louder and longer this time, but like before, no answer came. Was Jun inside the bathroom or did he just forget to close the knob so the water keep on running? Knowing Jun though, it would be impossible for him to forget such a trivial thing like turning off the knob of the shower. It was Jun who turned off the stove in time when Ohno completely forgot that he was cooking something and was too absorbed in telling Jun about the kind of fishes that he had caught.
Panic that something bad did really happen to Jun, Nino opened the door to the bathroom, ready to find bloody Jun on the floor (in his imagination Jun was hurt badly and that’s why Jun didn’t answer his knock earlier) so he was shocked to see Jun completely fine and completely naked under the shower, making him getting hot for some unknown reason that he couldn’t fathom.
If Nino had thought that Jun was beautiful when he was sitting inside the cage with his all-white clothes when Nino first saw him in the auction, then Nino had to take that compliment back after he saw just how beautiful Jun was, with water running down his slim figure, his face looked relax under the shower, and of course, naked.
Nino felt like a pervert standing there on the doorway gaping at naked Jun with no shame whatsoever, clearly enjoying the view before him. It was when Jun turned off the shower and grabbed the towel he had put on the stand to dry his wet body and realized that Nino was there, watching him with hawk eyes, andJun tried to cover his own naked body with the towel (though it was somewhat a futile attempt since Nino had seen everything), that Nino finally snapped back into reality.
His face red with embarrassment at getting caught doing something bad such as peeping at Jun when he was showering (even though Nino would always insist later that he was just worried something happened to Jun when Sho mocked him for taking an advantage of Jun when no one was there to stop him and his pervert nature), Nino coughed several times before he finally came up with something to say.
“Uh, you are beautiful even when you are showering.”
Nino mentally smacked himself for saying something so pervert like that and he saw Jun’s eyes widened in shock at his words though the latter didn’t say anything. He was still standing there, trying to cover his body with the towel, and Nino felt the heat started to build inside him.
Nino was suddenly nervous and the silent treatment Jun gave him didn’t help to ease the heat that constantly built ever since Nino saw naked Jun under the shower. He let out a nervous laugh to ease the tension between the two of them which came out like a strangled cry that make Jun flinched, whether in fear, disgust or shock Nino would never know and never wanted to know.
Nino was suddenly tired of all this, of Jun avoiding him, of Jun refusing his touch, and the heat inside of him kept on growing like a monster, eating him from inside. When he realized it, he had Jun against the bathroom wall and he was kissing Jun like there was no tomorrow. At first Jun didn’t respond to his attack but after sometime, he gave in and let Nino did whatever he wanted to him as he gave himself to Nino completely.
Nino never expected Jun to accept his ministration because Jun always tensed or flinched or hid behind Ohno (or Sho, whoever was near him at that time) so this acceptation from Jun made him happy. He continued attacking Jun and never once Jun refused him, and Nino grew bolder. It’s like all his dissatisfaction about Jun refusing his touch was forgotten just like that.
“Let me take you, Jun. I promise I wouldn’t hurt you.” Nino said once he broke the kiss. Jun was panting heavily, but he nodded his agreement at Nino and that’s the only sign that Nino needed. With a strength that he never knew he had, Nino dragged Jun out of the bathroom and told him to lie down on the bed as he kissed Jun again and again, marveling at the smooth skin which was exposed before him. He greedily explored Jun, making Jun let out some inhuman cries (and Nino finally knew that Jun could talk), and proceeded to take Jun as his.
Nino thought, once he was buried deep inside Jun, that everything was great for him.
