[if she could hover over it in a nice way, she would.] It's red velvet cake, Haru's never tried it before, although chocolate is Haru's favourite and - what about yours? Did you ever tell me your name?

No. It's Fran. [staring at the cake. that is some red cake. is cake supposed to be red? why isn't it called blood cake? FUSHIGI MYSTERY.] I don't really have a favorite.

[Jamie walks into this cake shop. And, without knowing why exactly he's doing it, feels compelled to sit down at Haru's table. A part of his brain is asking him why he's doing this, but the significantly larger part is telling him this is completely normal.]

Um. Hi! I'm Jamie. Jamie Crawford. Except I don't know if you usually give out last names with these things... but the point is! It's nice to meet you. Is this where I tell you a list of all the things I like-er, long walks on the beach, that kind of thing? Because I don't actually live near a beach, so it's a bit difficult to know if I like-

[He breaks off, and pauses. Oops, rambling is not attractive, Jamie.] Sorry.

[Snaps out of it! And feels completely compelled to answer - though it might just be her, not the curse here speaking.] Hahi - Hi, Jamie-san! I like to interview people, and sew up costumes, and am not bad at cooking, and already like someone -

Hi, Haru. [Oh wow, someone who can talk as much as him! This is going splendidly. Except for, you know, the obvious.] Why only once a month? I have a philosophy that you should eat junk food whenever you want to. My sister says it's because I can't cook, which is probably true, but it's also because it would taste better than anything I cooked anyway. If I ever learned how not to ruin boiled water. I don't know how that happens. But I guess if you can cook, then you have less to worry about. No toasters would explode, for instance.

[Phew, stopping for a breath.] Oh? You think so? Um... well. That's. Good. Very good! I aim for cute. Cute is safe territory. It's good to know it's, um. Working?

[That's what the tall, gangly fellow says as he casually slips in to the seat in front of her, as if he belonged there.

Extends a hand for hers, (to kiss the back of her hand, not shake, he's a gentleman!), and- is that a fork already in his other hand?]

Ha- hi? [She blinks, taken aback, but there's her hand already raising so he can shake it (she thinks, because the Westerners do that).]

Oh - Haru Miura.

[As he takes her hand, kisses, instead of shakes, his fork is already helping itself to a bite of her cake.]

It's a pleasure, my lady.

[And he draws back, popping some red velvet goodness in his mouth]

Did you know this shop is known particularly for it's Almond Chocolate Cake?

[She's blushing - how gentlemanly! - and then frowns. Her cake - her ritual!] That's...Haru's ca-

[And then new information comes up.] Almond chocolate cake? Hahi - Haru did not know! But then again, Haru barely even got here, and yet...and yet - red velvet cake...and it's almost done, too...

Haru! [Sitting next to her] How are you adjusting here? Please don't let the talk of curses scare you. Some of them are actually quite fun!

Are they? Like which for example, Uni-san? [See that? See it, Uni? She's sharing her cake. Sliding the plate towards. Oh yes. Such is the magnitude of her love.]

There was a curse where people visited the City! Father Christmas came and gave us presents. [Uni smiles and takes a small bite of the cake] Thank you!

Oh, how nice! Do you like presents? Do you like getting them or giving them? [Put your seatbelts on, it's rambling time!] Haru likes giving them best because they bring happiness and surprise to the faces of people, so every present has to be just right!
