Sleeping Beauty(iful Fighter)
Kenpachi/Yumichika (gotta quint a bit for it)
She looked so beautiful that he could not take his eyes off her, so he stooped down and gave her a kiss. But the moment he kissed her she opened her eyes and awoke, and smiled upon him.
Yumichika was beautiful. He'd never really cared about it, but now that he looked, Yumichika was beautiful.
Arm hanging limp from a previous fight, Kenpachi walked over. Or more like staggered. He went over to Yumichika while others limped away to be healed. Except 11th Division members. This had been a fight to death, it was either die in the battlefield, or be lucky enough to live another year. But not with the hep of outsider, that was akin to cheating and they would never understand the glory of a good final fight.
Kenpachi fell on his knees as soon as he was close enough. Yumichika felt him close and opened his eyes, turning his head the best he could to look at the man he called "Captain...."
Zaraki's face was stern. He looked at Yumichika's face and only at his face, refusing to acknowledge the gaping hole in his chest, the bones popping out of his limbs, the blood refusing to stop and coagulate. Instead, he gazed at Yumichika's face. A small trail of blood was coming out of his mouth, almost making it look like he had lipstick on. But Yumi never used any make up, he believed in his own natural beauty.
Yumichika looked warmly at his captain, his eyes softened with unfallen tears, either of joy or sadness. Kenpachi chose to believe they were joy. If only he'd managed to move and arm, pick up his sword again, stand and say it clearly: 'don't worry Captain, I'm fine, I'm a good warrior, look'. But his sword was far away and his arms wouldn't obey him anymore.
Gently, very gently, Kenpachi slid his arm around Yumichika's shoulders. An ugly gurgling resounded but he ignored it and pressed his 5th Seat close to his chest, cradling him tightly.
"You did good. It's okay now."
The captain's hold was warm, warmer than Yumichika ever thought it could be, and his words were gentle, soothing. Slowly, Yumichika closed his eyes and fell asleep.
That had been the 11th Division's greatest fight, many good fighters died in the battlefield, like any good fighter should do. Many others were blessed with enough luck to survive, others found that the bloodied path of the warrior wasn't for them.
Kenpachi had won again as always and he cared little for those that had lost their fights, but his heart wept for the most beautiful fighter he'd ever seen.
"Sleep well, Yumi."
