What a great summer reading list!

A list of the top 110 banned books. Bold the ones you've read. Italicize the ones you've read part of. Underline the ones you specifically want to read (at least some of). Read more. Convince others to read some.

#1 The Bible
#2 Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain
#3 Don Quixote by Miguel de Cervantes#4 ( Read more... )

Do you happen to know where that list comes from? It doesn't look much like the lists I've seen -- in particular it's entirely missing the books aimed at younger children (like "Daddy's Roommate") that generally top lists of 'banned and challenged books' (usually the two get lumped together -- is this really just 'banned'?

I don't doubt the veracity of the list, it's just slicing things in a very different way than I've seen before.

Here's more about the list... http://queerbychoice.livejournal.com/405657.html?mode=reply

so, yeah, may be not the best list to be circulating, but I do know that some of these, particularly the older ones, did make it onto the Catholic Church's prohibited books list (Montaigne, Locke, Gibbon).
