Before & After I Saw Them: #2, Jesse Thorn & Jordan Morris

Nov 16, 2011 20:40

As a comic book artist, I listen to a lot of podcasts while I draw. I can't help but build a mental picture of the radio personalities I listen to , so I'm going to illustrate and examine this process- what did they look like in my head, and how did my perception of them change once I knew what they looked like?

They do have faces made for radio.

I always though Scott Aukerman was Adam Scott, as they sound exactly the same. Of course, the recent episode with Adam Scott on was one of the funniest I have ever heard.

Oh man, Adam Scott does seem to be involved in a lot of very funny episodes. You heard the one with James Adomian playing Alan Rickman?

They aren't handsome movie stars, but looking them up after reading this post I think I decided that you are just projecting. I mean, they just look like regular people, especially Jordan Morris, who in your version looks like an extremely overweight grandmother-man. I'm not surprised that they're both on television in some capacity, whereas I was pretty horrified/disgusted when I first read that they were.

I almost wish I had done my own post on my perception of these two radio personalities after reading this post and after looking them up online.

Yeah, they seemed to hate my portrayal of them!

I'm going to add a little apology to the top of the article, I think.

Oh man as soon as I saw the drawing I knew you were going to get in trouble! I really love the "real" illustration and I would definitely love to see those hideous caricatures come to life- though, if the subjects were pictured separately I doubt I would have been able to decode their identities. I went for as long as humanly possible (11 years by my count) without knowing the faces of Ira Glass and Garrison Keillor (and was VERY surprised) and would certainly look forward to it if you were going to get around to that one!

We've all had super ugly pictures drawn of ourselves at one time or another, right? God, I hope so.
