Sam had just closed her laptop when he knocked on the door. "No," she answered. "I was just about to come back, actually." Even though she thought things were mostly okay between them, she'd been spending a lot of time by herself, just thinking. She didn't want Jack to think she was avoiding him, because she wasn't, necessarily, not anymore.
"Meteor shower outside," Jack said, hooking a thumb in that general direction. "Thought maybe we could go lay out there and watch it for a little while?"
"Really?" That was something she hadn't seen since she was there. She always loved meteor showers. "Right now?" She'd kicked off her shoes while she was working, and she felt around under the chair for them and put them on.

He'd always been kind of a nerd when it came to astronomy, if nothing else.
