[ Jesse is at the casino by the piano. You're all probably thinking he's going to sing, well, you're mostly wrong. More likely you can see him stare at the keys for a few long minutes before he starts playing this.

He plays most of the song perfectly, being Jesse. Luckily he was on a plane before getting here and had sheet music in his trolley since ( Read more... )

[ quinn's voice is not céline's soprano, so the lines that follow come out in a soft, transposed alto. ]

If you forgive me all this, if I forgive you all that --

[ she stops, offers a smile. being nice to jesse is odd. new and odd and she still feels that kneejerk urge to be horrible, but rachel dying put so many things in perspective and allowed her to see a side of jesse that she didn't think existed: the side that cared. ] I guess it makes sense that you're a Céline Dion fan.

[ Jesse honestly has...never heard Quinn sing. Or didn't listen in their Glee Club days. So now she gets a raised eyebrow. ]

She's one of today's most talented vocalist.

[ pause. ]

Do you know the duet version? Meatloaf and Marion Raven?

[She saw this, and promptly wanted to cry. But she doesn't, because she is Rachel Berry, and crying is far past her at the moment.

So instead, she goes to the casino, bringing Evita with her, so she doesn't have to go completely alone. And when she reaches the casino, Rachel tiptoes to Jesse before hugging him from behind, resting her chin on his shoulder, to just -- be there for a moment, before she murmurs:]

I wish I could sing with you.

[It would make everything much better.]

[ He doesn't really tense when she does. Since really, who will it be anyway? Instead he tips his head backwards to look at her with a cheeky grin. ]

A rational wish, and a common one.

[That gets a grin out of her, even if it is a tiny one.]

Shut up.
